they are probably looking for a link, so they can get a linkback for seo purposes, not for traffic.
i get emails like that all the time “my client would like to purchase a link from your website are willing to pay $100-1000 for x period of time”
I got an email from them over the weekend. I generally ignore these emails but out of interest I asked them how much they would pay for the link and what site is wanting the link.
