The email I received on 11th:

We want to share with you a recent decision that we believe will put Afternic in an even better position to serve the small business, SOHO community and greater domain industry.
After extensive consideration, we have decided to no longer accept domain names that promote hate, sex, obscenity or self-destructive behavior, such as substance abuse, violence and gambling. The sole rationale behind our decision is to make Afternic a more comfortable site for mainstream domain name shoppers, especially small business owners. We recognize that taking a leadership role on this issue may have a negative financial impact on our business in the near term. Nonetheless, we believe strongly that it’s the right thing long-term decision for our industry and Afternic.
In the next few days, we will de-list these kinds of domain names currently posted on our site. Members who own such names will receive a letter from us informing them which names will no longer be listed. We hope that they, and others, will understand that we have no interest in censorship and that we fully support First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and expression. And, there is certainly no lack of other Internet sites where such names are welcomed.The Internet, much like the early days of television, is still a new frontier. We believe it is up to the industry leaders-and we include Afternic here-to step up and determine what constitutes professional standards and practices. We take this action in the interest of socially responsible corporate behavior and hope that it leads to further healthy industry dialog and discussion on the topic.

By the way, wouldn´t you agree that a lot of the people looking for gambling domains are small business owners they want to target?makes them feel like the big swingin´wieners :madat:

do we have to go to a different domain selling site and then buy our own damn domains again?
scuse the cussing. Gonna be a lot of that in the future if this sort keeps up.
anyway, so how will all this work for those who have their domain names with … well for me I’ve bought at gdaddy.
I know they haven’t followed yet but I’d say as much as they are in the spotlight that its now a matter of time. ….sigh.

I have over 1000 domains at Godaddy and quite a few at register.com and enom. I wouldnt be surprised if any or all of them decided they no longer wanted our online gambling business. I guess we would be forced to transfer to a new service provider and I bet there would be transfer fees from both parties.
We get raped. They make tons of money. What a deal.

Stupid me! I decided to buy a hosting plan from Godaddy.com and I also ordered my domain transfer without reading the web sites content T&C, now I have found they do not accept gambling content websites:-(
Do you know if I can quit the contract with Godaddy and have my money back?
Please, if someone could help me!This is 100% bonafide BS. Godaddy not accepting gambling content websites? They are lying to you I could pull up thousands of gambling sites served by Godaddy. Maybe they no longer do but this does not explain the new gambling sites I see go up everyday.
Besides I would advise to stay away from Godaddy, spam central. In regards to getting you money back, good luck. Get a real host and buy a real domain and stay away from these people.
BTW no one is stupid at least not in my world.

I have sent a mail to Godaddy support asking if it is really like I can read in their terms of service.
I hope they will tell me a gambling portal is allowed…
Anyway, when I click on my hosting manager it appears the “End User License Agreement” and this is what I can find about contents:” Web Site Content
You shall be solely responsible for providing, updating, uploading and maintaining Your website and any and all files, pages, data, works, information and/or materials on, within, displayed, linked or transmitted to, from or through Your web site, including, without limitation, trade or service marks, images, photographs, illustrations, graphics, audio clips, video clips, email or other messages, meta tags, domain names, software and text. Your web site content shall also include any registered domain names provided by You or registered on behalf of You in connection with the Services. Notwithstanding anything in this Agreement to the contrary, in the event You are using ad-supported hosting, in no event shall Your web site consist of the following: search results, registration, “thank you”, error, email or chat pages, pages comprised primarily of other advertising or pages that contain any of the following types of content: pornographic, obscene or excessively profane content or content intended to advocate or advance computer hacking or cracking, gambling, illegal activity, drug paraphernalia, hate, violence or racial or ethnic intolerance. “

Violettax you are reading it correctly. It does say no gambling content but this is Godaddy. Again the worst group of people you want to work with. What you could do is proof them wrong then ask for your money back. If they refuse then they will have to host your site because they host other gambling content sites.
Try out what bb1web advice I would love to see them refund your cash. please post the results this will be very interesting.

I received answer from a Godaddy online support technician.
Well, he said that only on free hosting servers they do not allow gambling contents sites, so very good for me!:rollover:

Online Support TechnicianI have paid for hosting so I just don’t understand why they do not change their T&C for the paid-for hosting servers, I have to trust the person who sent me this mail and hope they will not mess with me later, when (if it is available) the 30 days guarantee will expire ..:dontget:
