InactiveI look at it as if I want to promote you I will otherwise I just ignore the message and move on. If I get more then 1 from the same program manager over and over then it bugs me and I call it spam

This would help the AM to identify the issues/problems with their affiliate programme – if the responses note the same issues etc, this should cause the programme to look at it and modify accordingly – hence making their programme more appealing to the CAP affiliates.
Just my thoughts on the matter

If someone wanted a second pm from that affiliate manager, then then it might be good to reply like that. If one didn’t want to continue discussing their program they’re trying to get you to join, then I might not reply.
Most people wouldn’t take a simple “I’m not interested because” and just go away. That would be the open door for them to overcome your reasons for not joining. I hate when someone is really trying to sell me something that I’ve already told them I’m not interested in.

Completely agree – my solution would only work if AMs respected what the affiliate actually said

InactiveI have used PM’s in the past to contact people on the forum but I think I only did it after a period of time when people got to know who I was and who I worked for.
Failing that I related the PM to a thread I had read that involved that affiliate so that the offer that you are trying to communicate relates and is less spammy.
Did I just give away my secret to appearing less spammy? D’oh!
It is a tough call and one that is finely balanced, you could make a lot of new contacts or you could become the devil?
I know from my side when the boss keeps pushing you for more signup’s and you say you have contacted them, and they say contact them again it can put the affiliate manager in a tricky situation. Both affiliates and affiliate managers need to understand the view from either side of the fence.
Remember also that almost every program has managers doing the same thing all day every day and I am sure it can get very annoying! Kinda like those guys that knock at your door and read a section out of the bible to you without even knowing your faith!

InactiveIf you wanted to get to know people on a more personal basis then a template generated PM was prob not the way to go. It should have been more personalized.

It wasn’t a template, and it was as personalized as it can be, between people who don’t relay know each other, yet. Any attempt to make it more personalized would have made the massage look fake. I may be allot of things buddy, but believe me, being fake is not among them.

InactiveThese PMs don’t bother me, and I do read them. I don’t always answer because I don’t always have an answer. No answer from me probably means “maybe later”.
I always look at new offers though, be they through PM or mail. Often I do a little research based on the PM and make a quiet decision.
Really, I should reply more often, and would like to as a courtesy, but at times it gets abused and turns into hot pursuit with heavy sales pitches and I don’t like these.
So, like with a lot of things, the misbehavior of some hurts the rest.
But basically, it can’t hurt to send me a PM and it just might work.

PM = Personal Message
CM = Commerical Message
The PM system is for personal communication among members. It’s not designed for or athorized to be used as a commercial means of introduction or promotion.

wabbit500MemberI generally ignore a PM from some affiliate manager I don’t know, but I would certainly go through his message if he would post it in the forum. And I will contact him if there is any interesting offer for me in his message.
