misswiggMemberHi Tony
Forums are notoriously difficult to get going and even that’s a huge understatement, they require a lot of traffic/time motivating posters/moderating/deleting spam, its a lot of work. If you can pull it off though its definitely worth it so I don’t want to deter you just to make you aware of how difficult it is to generate a successful forum.

InactiveIf I had to do it all over again I would have avoided forums completely. As Caseym said they are a pain to maintain at times and very hard to grow. My advice is to create a facebook page and use that as a way for communicating. If you find that you’re getting a huge following, then add a forum. Facebook is killing most online communities.

Afternoon all, this is my first time posting on the site although I’ve been lurking around here for about 8 months now. LOTS of info to study. I have constructed my site and i’m about 90% finished, or at least i always think i am til i look at it. Seems every time i look at my site from a guests perspective i notice things and want to reconstruct something. Anyways, i did a search for what i’m asking and got tons of pages but none really answered my question.
When building a affiliate site should you “have forums” for your community of guests?
i’m putting content for people to learn, good informative information for them, so i suspect they will be returning.
Anyways i appreciate all the help from CAP this place has been a gem.
Good Luck Everyone,
TonyHi Apex Global/ Tony:
First and foremost, welcome to the forums & thanks for joining the CAP Community. :hattip:
And… thanks for such a nice compliment. It sincerely makes me happy to hear that you are regularly visiting CAP and the community & team have been able to provide you useful info.
As for Creating a Community/Forum, both Caseym & Fonzi bring up excellent points. It is a double edge sword… Communities can help generate some excellent traffic to your site… but it is not an easy feat.
The CAP Community has been around forever (it feels like.) Gosh, I think it was started in 2000, and essentially has been the foundation of CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com as a whole.
What could potentially be a happy medium for you is creating a subscriber base geared around your blog. There’s several WP Plugins out there that help promote your visitors to comment on your blog… and great techniques to boost up your subscribers & followers. (For example, Score 1,000 Blog Subscribers in 60 Days)
Hope this info is helpful!
