InactiveIt’s all of the germs in the planes. Being confined for all those hours is not good.
I was like that after CAP London in January. I got home and was sick for like 10 days and I rarely get colds.
I hope you feel better soon Diana.

InactiveFirst of all, most of us over indulged and underslept, so it set’s us up to be more susceptible to catching Colds/Viruses.
In the plane you may have seen on the screen that the air outside the plane is -45 F, so the plane has to heat any of the air it circulates into the plane, this in turn uses fuel, which costs money. So, the refresh rate of the air on the plane is set for as low as is considered reasonable to save fuel. So take a bunch of us, coming off a heavy partying schedule, put us in plane with somewhat stale air and viola, your sick.
I made it back fine. But since i tend to chain smoke while i’m on the road (much more than at home) i have about 25% change of coming home with a chest/sinus infection. This time, i’m not ill, last December, after WebmasterWorld i was sick for 3 weeks.

What is the thing with flights and colds and other illnesses? Many times I get into an airplane feeling 100% and after sleeping I start to feel not good at all to find out few days laters that I am sick as a dog, with sore throat fever and terrible cough. Regardless if you wear a sweater or blanket at the end it you’ll get it.
Talking to more people that attended CAP, some of them are in the same condition as me, SICK SICK SICK!
How are you feeling?
This happens to me often enough to make me think twice about long long flights…

InactiveThat’s actually funny that this thread came up, I didn’t go to Barcelona but I did catch a cold on my last flight and I am fighting it now. It seems like its 50/50 on if I will catch one when I fly.
Planes recirculate oxygen therefore if one person on the plane has a cold everyone catches it. The funny thing is it would not cost much for airlines to install hepa filters on each plane as to severely reduce infection but they are too cheap for that. It would also make sense for governments to have a mandatory enforcement of this. These filters would be the cheapest way of fighting biological terrorism or natual biological threats from spreading. Airlines have long been considered the biggest threat for infections to spread fast from city to city.

gamingtranslationMemberI caught a cold too! By the time my plane stopped in Vienna on the way back to Bangkok, I was sneezing all over the place. I think the rapid change in temperatures and climates makes it easy to get chilled.

I hope you get well! By the way… it was great meeting you in Barcelona. I see why you were chosen the best affiliate manager and pretty sure will get it again on February.
I thought that with the weekend my health would improve but not. I am in bed with sinusitis and a little fever.
Hope to see you soon and say “Hi” to Helene from me.
Cheers!

That should be something that must be done now. There is a big chance that among the 100+ people on a flight one is sick and can spread it all over.
Anyway I’ve heard about a pill that is available in USA, that people take it before flying and prevent them to get sick. The name is “airborne”. Have somebody used it?
