vladcizsolMemberMarc I certainly hope you are right. I also believe a change in the current right wing facists will turn things around, but you never know if they wont steal another election like they did in 2000.

Guestwell usually its the democrats that want to govern every detail of our lives and its the republicans which will let something in the grey areas stay grey….. so I’m not so sure we won’t be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire; but in this case I think better the evil we don’t know…

InactiveIt would be a delicious irony if Bush won the popular vote but lost the electoral college this time around, which, considering the tight race, is an entirely plausible scenario.
Another possibility is that both candidates will tie with 269 electoral votes, in which case the Congress would decide who the next President will be.

InactiveAs a general rule, the Democrats move toward more governmental control of economic type situations, but lean more toward more social freedoms.
The Republicans lean toward more economic freedoms but more government control of social freedoms.
I would imagine that most webmasters, with our independent and freedom-loving natures, would probably prefer a Libertarian approach to government that would be focused on both economic and social freedom.

Guestit seemed like to me that the democrats were more detail orientated than were the republicans.
meaning they wanted to control more of our lives than did the republicans. I always felt the republicans were more interested in seeing business as usual be the theme of the day and as long as you didn’t make too big a splash in the pool that you were left alone. As long as your taxes were paid of course.

Is that why the Republicans ran up the largest budget deficit in the history of this country? Or presided over the loss of 1.6 million american jobs? Or authored the patriot act which eroded our rights to privacy? Or sent the FCC on a witch hunt of radio and television? Or the Justice department went after Online Gambling and restricted our rights to advertise by creating an atmosphere of fear of oppression from the federal government?
Is that staying out of our business? Is that less government?
Guys we went off track here. If we want to talk politics it has to be down in the Free for All area.

InactiveAs far as this industry goes, the US government has cheated taxpayers out of huge amounts of money.
The taxes collected from the PPC’s on gambling ads, the money spent by PPCs in the states they made from gambling ads, and a bunch of affiliates went out of business. I don’t know about all of you, but my income has taken a dip since this happened. Less taxes from me and others like me also.
If they were to regulate and licence casinos they could collect all kinds of money from online casinos. They may even tax players for playing – some countries have a luxury tax for that. Not to mention that players would be a lot safer playing at regulated casinos and casinos would likely be very happy to pay through the nose to be regulated by the US.
All that is money the people of the US did not get.
