InactiveHi Sam, you made quite the impression at Casinomeister. Your account was banned there for spamming, correct?
I’m curious about this affiliate database of yours – where did it come from? What group/operator/affiliate program sold, gave, or otherwise passed this data along to you?
I received one of your spam emails sent to my old domain. That domain has been shut down for about 9 or 10 months now – wow, you really must want some ads on that site! :sarcasm:
Other CAP folks – here are some Casinomeister threads about Sam…

InactiveSam David is an insult to the industry. He appeared on a thread in the spammers section defending 21magic casino saying how they cleaned up their act and categorically distanced himself and his group from spamming . What a miserable idiot.

Pol PittMemberIt’s funny how people who don’t even give out their real names and the people they work for can just show up on a forum and spread rumors with no basis and try convincing people when they have no idea what they’re talking about.
So, let me tell you what REALLY happened.
Yes, I did send a few hundred Emails to our affiliate databse which includes webmasters and affiliates.
I was looking at many websites, searching for the right ones for us, and then leaving a message through their “contact us” link when I liked the website, or moving on the next when I didn’t. This is how I and the affiliate managers before me build the potential affiliate database (plus contacts made in conferences, referred by other affiliates etc).
The only mistake I did was not reading Casinomeister’s forum guidelines (I admit – I am new to forums) and therefore posting in the wrong forum at casinomeister. For that reason I got banned for misplacing a thread, something which was completely accidental. For this reason I could not post replies and a bunch of affiliates had a field trip. Now they can go on about me there, without letting me reply to their posts. I don’t think that’s fair.
I think that this thread itself is a good example of how clean I act. All I’m trying to do is to reach the right affiliates and offer them our September special without interupting anyone who might not be intrested in our special offer. I posted my phone number and other private details so whoever’s intrested is able to reach me easily.
I don’t want to offend anyone but I think that the people who hide and tell half truths while not telling the important, relevant facts, have an agenda which I’m not clear on.
I again invite anyone who’s been offended by me to say so. If you want to be removed from our database – let me know or simply unsubscribe. easy, no? If you don’t believe our program – ask me and I’ll explain. We have not invented anything and I’m yet to be faced with an affiliate who claims we wronged him.
What’s the deal, people? are you here to develop your business or are you looking for laughs at some one elses expnse (me today – who knows who will it be tomorrow)?
I stand behind EVERYTHING I say. I invite you to stand behind yours, and not hide behind a forum alias.Sam DavidAffiliate managerSeptember 3, 2007 at 9:07 am #747667

What’s you favorite way of being contacted?:hattip:Sam DavidAffiliate managerSeptember 3, 2007 at 1:31 pm #747675Anonymous
InactiveLook guys, let’s forget the history for a moment and address a valid question here.
This is the new program forum. If Sam has a program he wants you to know about, this is the place for him to post or I would have tossed him out.
New programs need a way to tell people they exist, and since they can’t spam us in any way, there are three legitimate ways to do it that I can see:
1. Post in the appropriate forums on the appropriate messageboards (this being an affiliate message board and thus appropriate)
2. Visit websites and contact the owners of sites that look good to the program. This has been the basis of many a deal I have made over the years.
3. Go to conventions
It is in our own interest that new programs are presented to us, so we can make informed decisions. That is why we have this forum. While only certified member programs are encouraged to post in the general areas, this forum provides a platform for new ones to introduce themselves. We can look them over and ask questions while they get their feet wet and prepare to apply for certification.
Casinomeister is a player board and Sam’s posting there is considered casino shilling. Introducing a new aff program on an affiliate board is legitimate though.
And Sam asks a legitimate question: What really IS a legitimate way to meet affiliates? If I were to introduce a new affiliate program, how would I go about it?
We were all newbies at one time and didn’t know “netiquette”. Ann Landers never covered this.
That said, I haven’t looked at the program yet and have no idea if it’s any good or not.

Exactly what rumor did I spread?

Once again, the web site which you emailed me at had been out of commission for nearly a year, meaning that it has been inaccessible, unavailable, whatever you want to call it. Therefore it is not possible that you happened across this web site’s Contact page a week ago and used that to email me.

I stand behind EVERYTHING I say. I invite you to stand behind yours, and not hide behind a forum alias.I don’t like the implication that just because someone has a screen name that they are “hiding”. You’re damn right I’m not giving out my full name on a public forum, why? For starters, I’m not an affiliate manager therefore it’s perfectly fine for people to refer to my using my screen name. And more importantly, I live in the police state known as the United States. If you don’t live in the US then I’m real happy for you, I hope you never have to put up with what we now have to. But it’s very instigative to imply that people whose screen names are not their real, full names “have an agenda” or are “trying to hide”.
I wish you the best of luck with your program, I was merely curious about how you got the data but it’s obvious that a truthful response is out of the question.

Excellent points Dominique, and well taken. My only issue is with #2 because this was not what happened, at least in my case.
Anyway – I’m not interested in starting a war. This will be my last post on this thread.
To answer Sam’s question, email is my preferred contact method – provided that I signed up to receive emails in the first place.

Pol PittMemberHi Dominique, Slotsjunkie and all,
Look Slotsjunkie, the last thing I need is to start a war with anyone. I understand how things are in the US, I remember trying to catch my flight last year at LAX, holding my shoes and my belt in my hands and running barefoot with other business men who went through security and thinking- “maybe the US goverment went a bit too far”. I can see why living there with the new “Big brother” law can that make people not want to give out information about themselves and I respect that. Your government is very very tough, and I would act as you do.
And off course this doesn’t mean you have an agenda. I did hear however that other affiliate managers sometimes use fake users to slander competitors. Obviously this is not the case with you and I take that back.No one likes receiving Spam and no one who respect for his business will send Spam to make sure his business and reputation stay clean.
We at Brook Media Online hate Spam.About your old website, as I said, I mailed the September special to mails I collected AS WELL AS to the database I inheritted from my predecessors (probably wrong spelling… sorry). Your mail is not one that I collected personally. I looked in the database and saw that your mail was collected by Matt, the first affiliate manager at Brook Media, who’s since left (to travel in South America, the ba$^ard…), and apparantly he was effective in collecting emails of affiliates.
If you’d like me to remove it from Brook Media’s mail list I will gladly do so. You also have an unsubscribe option in that email. If you don’t want to receive my mails, thats 100% fair and I’ll stop sending them. Fair enough ?I respect the fact that you came forward and wanted to know who I am and what am I doing and I’m glad we could clear things thanks to your reply, but I think that adding the links to the posts at Casinomeister is just plain unfair since people go at me there without letting me tell my side of the story.
I’m glad we had a chance to clear things and I have learned much from this experience. One last thing, Thank you Dominique for doing your job and protecting the forums like a true big Kahuna.
And you’re invited to check our program and ask any questions you may have. I’ll galdly answer them.Sam DavidAffiliate managerSeptember 4, 2007 at 11:46 am #747743Anonymous
InactiveI don’t mind being contacted by email by a program, but I do mind receiving vague emails from programs that say things like, “I want to buy all your traffic. Please reply if you’re interested.” or “I want to discuss a business arrangement with you.”
If you’re going to email me about your affiliate program, you should include all of your pertinent details. Like the names of the casinos, the software they operate on, the CPA and/or revshare that you’re offering, etc. Affiliate recruiters who don’t send details when they email me just get their emails deleted.
September 4, 2007 at 11:49 am #747744Anonymous
InactiveBTW, slamming a bunch of people for “hiding behind a forum screenname” in this industry doesn’t do much to encourage me to sign up for a program. There are more effective ways of presenting your case. You might consider your tone on an industry forum before posting and how it might affect your recruitment efforts.
I know that I’m in no hurry to sign up for your affiliate program after reading your earlier post in this thread.

InactiveThe best way of contacting me is nothing. I don’t like receiving emails or calls from affiliate programs asking me to promote them. I understand how it’s difficult for new programs to find new affiliates but we have the largest two forums: CAP and GPWA where you may show yourself from a good side, affiliates may know you better.
September 4, 2007 at 3:20 pm #747777
biggygMemberI get many emails from programs wanting us to promote them ,sometimes there are good ones there that i forgot to ad etc.If the programs are not good programs then i just delete email .Basically if you dont get a reply just drop it ,i hate the spamming media groups lol.

Pol PittMemberHey guys, how are you doing?
First of all Randy, I have to say that you’re right, after I read my posts I realized that I might have over reacted.
I felt like I was under attack and due to it I needed to defend myself. “Hiding behind a forum name” was not written to say that people here are hiding, I only meant that it’s rarher easy to have a go at someone when his showing everything to everyone while the other isn’t.
But once again I feel like I’m over defending myself and there’s no need for that …
I had a chat yesterday with few of my friends, long after working hours, over a few beers, about Identity theft and “The big brother law” forced in countries which don’t really respect the right of privacy. We all agreed that it’s completely out of line as much as running barefoot, beltless all the way to the boarding gate is.I have to say that in our affiliate program we do try to make everything very personal and to build strong foundations to the relationships with our affiliates, yet respect their privacy.
As for everyone else; forums, websites etc,. I have learned an important lesson about privacy too.Nice talking to all of you

And I would love to hear more suggestions about ways of contacting without forgetting everyone’s right for privacy.
Once again thank you :hattip:Sam DavidAffiliate managerSeptember 5, 2007 at 1:55 pm #747894Anonymous
InactiveHi Sam, let me apologize for my swearing further up in the post (Maybe a mod can delete that part of the post). I guess I overreacted. As the industry is becoming more unstable and with an increase in scams and spam campaigns I’m becoming very susceptible to complaints regarding those issues.
Btw the business with the shoes and belt is the same at most Western Airports now. Plus you need to carry that see through plastic bag with your liquids ( no more than 100ml !!!). Really caught me out the other day when I had my shoes x-rayed and realised I had a big hole in my left sock.

Pol PittMemberIt’s nice to see that we’re friends again,
I must say that I was completely shocked by the reactions I got for this thread, off course not only from you, and i don’t hold it against anyone. I’m a newbie, and I didn’t know the netiquette, and adding to that, i was totally blasted elsewhere and got a bullocking from my boss. I felt like being xrayed might be better…
I’m happy to see that we’re back and put this behind us.
The best thing about this thread is that it became a very educatinal one, plus, people here are very professional. Reading this thread from top to bottom makes a better script than most TV shows today. How about we make a reality show of “affiliate/affiliate manager survivor”??
And if it’s a script I guess we’re supposed to reach climax by now… so, one of us is supposed to save the day and run off with the girl, right? I hope it’ll be me.The most important thing an affiliate manager should have is good connections; with his affiliates, with other people on line and in general – to maintain good connections with everyone he talks to. As an OK person and an affiliate manager making his first steps in the industry I think I would like to have a good connection with all of you who took the time to reply, to re-read and then reply again

Oh, and another important part of my job is that i get a budget to pay for the :capmiami:
drinks at conventions so you guys will be the first I invite in the next conference. No plans to go to Barcelona yet (too new ) but if not then London (better beer…).
Thank you for helping me out,
Sam DavidAffiliate manager -
