Before, betting was state-run, now anybody can organize bets … Today, most illegal forms of betting come from Asia or China. The very honest betting in Europe in tax havens is one issue, but betting in Asia is more borderline.

Platini is a xenophobic man who really does not understand what goes on in football off the pitch.

Football has grown far bigger since his time in the game, there are huge finances now involved in the game and betting is a major reason why the European game attracts so much interest in it’s major markets.

Anti-English in his attempts to restrict club football, and obviously anti-asian here. Does anyone think that Mr Platini has ANY idea, or has made any investigation before making that statement ?

Meanwhile, Platini continues to enjoy the gravy train offered to him by UEFA committee, just like his FIFA endorsed cronie Sepp Blatter, and he’ll pander to any group at all in order to maintain enough votes to be elected back to the gravy train.

Totally agree with you Paul, with Platini heading up UEFA and Blatter in charge at FIFA I really do worry about the game.

The former’s certainly a xenophobe and the latter’s just a hypocrite, complaining about the foreign players in the english game when it’s a breeding ground for young talent the world over and in no doubt an integral part in developing football across the world, what he actually wants!

I think there’s a certain amount of bitterness from Platini, who if was born about 20 years later he’d have earned millions.
