poluroud20MemberGreat post – this happens in every day life.
Some people will steal & don’t care who they hurt/affect in the process.
But rest assured, what goes around comes around

InactiveMy biggest issue is that as long as the casinos and affiliate programs themselves do not act accordingly .. this will continue..
– Why give the copycat/spammer a warning that he will lose his earnings? I feel that there should be no warning whatsoever.. simply close his account and he forfeits any earnings IMMEDIATELY. In all the T&C’s it states that one may not do anything wrong.. so why warn? Don’t give these people any leeway…
– Especially the casinos bearing eCogra seals etc. .. Should that not be a reason to make sure that all aspects of your bussiness run “cleanly”? Surely that would be reason enough to get rid of these bad apples from your marketing efforts and distance yourselves from them.
– If they (Casinos) think that the copycat/spammer earned them a bit or a lot of money in a short space of time.. that would be very short-sighted on their part.. since these people hurt those that work hard in the industry who have proven track records .. thereby hurting their own long term earnings as well.
There are a number of programs that do act really quickly.. which is highly appreciated and I remember those when I do my updates.. but if you look below in this very forum.. some programs have not even bothered to answer my posts on this issue. Makes one go “Hmmmmm..”
So.. basically.. cut off the reason to do this and it will stop eventually.. Stop with the warnings.. If it is a clear case.. close the account without any warning and shoot them an email stating this. Tell me why he/she would continue?

InactiveGreat posts Kwblue, Chris, and Peralis.
I wonder if a website about blacklisted affiliates could make any sense, I mean one similar to the banks’ blacklisted debtors which they use among each other to rate someone’s credibility.
On the other hand I think everything depends on the affiliate programs and their reactions (as they can do damage to these shady affiliates by stopping to pay them) – just maybe a centralized list could come handy for them to mark bad affiliates so they can see who is a no-no to work with.
Or maybe I am too naive :shakebutt

biggygMemberPersonally I own too many sites to keep eye on all of them to see if anyone steals my content but on my best sites i always use copyscape to check. Also have caught lazy writers in past because they get paid for 3 different versions of a review then i see my own sites listed in google for same thing

Exactly http://www.bestcasinolist.com and many other sites owned by this webmaster is a clear example of a copycat who will go on indefinately :
“sorry i copied your content i will remove it asap…….and copy it later on a new website!”
Sorry guys but these people do not care about all of us here one bit, and they call themselves affiliates?!
CLOSE their affiliate account dear casinoaffiliate program because they will hurt our SERP for sure if one let them; the longer the copied content is online the more damage will be done.
I have seen pages copied from leading sites, I hope they will copy content from the biggest of us all (guess who that is huh) and face what this webmaster will do to them!.
:wink-wink

InactiveI have been quite vocal on this before.
There is no room for warnings. You put pressure on them immediately. Email the programs they promote and name them here. Immediately.
Why give a thief any breathing space?

Exactly our point.. that site has been taken down but this affiliate has 100’s of sites with the same type of thing that are still online…

InactiveTo be real about it, if you see 100’s of sites.. there are probably 1000’s.
The real point of the thread is not to out BH webmasters, but to let affiliates who are considering this approach know that they will make a LOT more money in the long run (and gain a lot of close friends and associates) by creating original content and ranking for it.
The funny thing is, webmasters that have gone that route think it’s the ‘easy road’ to riches. It isn’t and here is why:
Why BH is NOT the ‘easy road’:
1. You will constantly have to create new sites because the search engines will ban your sites as quickly as they are able.
2. You will constantly have to re-code your ‘algorithms’ because the search engines have in place ‘site type match’ code which will detect and store how you code your sites in order to ban you more quickly.
3. You will have to deal with affiliate programs closing your accounts and you will then not make ANY money for your work.
4. You will have to deal with your hosting company closing your accounts due to spamming the search engines (in some cases)
5. Your name will eventually get out there as a BH webmaster and you will find it VERY hard, then, to break into the WH arena (and get help from serious webmasters).
With all that, it is probably 5 times the amount of work that it is creating your own original content. Do the math and then take the ‘real’ easy road!

Inactivethe main problem with this is:
people thinking about making a quick buck don’t ask themselves any questions other than “how can I make a quick buck?”. I fear it’s genetic and an industry such as this that deals in “vice” will always attract a disproportionatly high number of shitty and shady characters that you wouldn’t find in other industries.
If it’s any consolation I think most of the shitty people never really achieve anything resembling a success and that is the real tragedy inherent in being a shitty individual (content thief & co).

GuestHi all,
I agree it will be only a few that make any real money (and those are the ones that could have really soared doing it the right way) but there will be a ton of them that ruin the lives of many innocent folks by getting the penalities brought on the sites that were stolen from (was it GamTrak that had this happen that we talked about it in a thread recently?)
Google needs to step up and do better about NOT penalizing the innocent for the actions of scrapers and bh tactics.
in the end I definitely believe its up to the aff programs to be adamant about not paying these people and that its up to us as affs to not support programs that continually show up on these kind of sites.

rest assued it does.
And so the story goes, I waited patiently for two month back in 2004 for a reply from a vendor to use their product images and descriptions on my niche retail site.
In 2006 low and behold this clown steals all the images and descriptions for his own website and renames the site a name quite similar to mine. I know this to be true as he didn’t even have the smarts to change the image file names that I made up and copied the text descriptions word for word.
I also had an eBay store selling the same items, the clown opens an eBay store names it similar to mine again and whenever I would add a new product he would wait, see how it did and then add it to his store.
Last May I get a call from a lady that worked for my vendor telling me I don’t have permission to use the images or descriptions and must remove them. I say yes I do. She doesn’t believe me. I tell her I don’t plagiarize.
I forward her the original email from 2004 sent by the manager that gave me permission.
Apparently she must have busted the guy that stole the images from me as she knew exactly who he was. He must have said I gave him the images.
She was quite happy when I emailed her the link to his matching eBay store and thanked me for pointing it out as she only knew about his web site.

InactiveSteps to take against theives:
Post all info you have here, name n shame they say then.. here’s some advice I posted for a similar problem here:
1. You report the stolen text to google (getting rid of any possibility of ad sense accounts on the domains that steal content), get them delisted from serps, etc.
2. Report them to their host, point them to both copies of the content, and attach proof of ownership. In the subject of the email write DCMA Report.4. Legal Recourse can be taken, monetary damages can be sought after, this is pretty rare though, because it’s very involved, especially if both parties aren’t even in the same country. This is the reason most people use the Google DMCA road.
A buncha stuff that either irritates me, or I don’t understand:
The stars there irritated me. I think that’s out and out rude, and obv that they wanted the article without giving access to the source.
http://taplpoker.com/?p=10628 <-- these guys seem to just be syndicating what google posts, I get google alerts from them for most all my articles. I think that's ok. Just odd that they end up linking back to google. Google might mind though.. beats me. http://www.pokahblog.com/2008/06/21/poker-politics-poker-players-unite-this-election-year-4flushcom-2/ same
Again same.. seem to get a bunch of ppl that re-syndicate googles pages. Not sure if that’s ok, not ok, or if it helps or hurts. I get about 20 email alerts a day from google alerts where my content is copied or a snippet like that is copied.
A BUNCH of them are just out n out scrapes of articles that go into google news.
