InactiveBut you know the problems of co-reg list, don’t you? I’m on IM too, and I’ve seen people with lists that don’t know what to do with them, afraid of loosing their domain or autoresponder accounts.

InactiveExcellent point! It is not a co-reg list by any means. Here is how it works. JV partners submit their gifts – to get it (once promotion starts for members), each member HAS TO CHOOSE to have it and in order to do it they will need to subscribe to mailist of the JV partner who submitted it.
I provide all tools and templates to make it happen as well as a place to present you gift to ALL members, but each JV partner will have to make sure his or her gift is desirable enough for people to subscribe to his or her mailist.
ALL members, that will join will never be emailed by any participating partners or me. Only those who choose to subscribe to your individual mailist. I will participate in this event juts like other JV partners and have presented my gift with intentions to get subscribers. It will be responsibility of each participating JV partner to present information through email list to keep people subscribed.
I only present a chance to get qualified, highly targeted opt-in leads. How you use that chance is up to you!

InactiveAh, you chose the second way. Much better. Co-regs can be a pain to manage. Receiving emails from people you don’t know is never good, even if you warm them up first.
If they signup directly with you, then it’s good

And how will we promote this?
September 13, 2006 at 10:08 pm #705912Anonymous
InactivePromotion is simple, each JV partner uses his own methods – banners on website, existing mailist, forum post … whichever method your prefer – except NO SPAM. Any JV partner reported to use Spam techniques will be investigated (fairly easy to prove, since each has his own unique promo URL and there is incentive for using it) and excluded from program.
In addition to that on current member signup page, until event starts, register form replaced with “early notification subscription” form. Basically any person interested to participate, as member will have to sign up for notification (list will not be used for ANY other purpose). I’ll be running separate promotion for that page to get as many people interested in event as possible. Promotion to members by JV partners will begin 5 days prior to event start. As I mention before – I provide all tools necessary for product promotion. Some banners are still in process of being created but I still have plenty of time
At this point I’m recruiting JV partners and do not advise advertising member signup page (unless you don’t have your own mailist, then please contact me for options), only invite other possible JV partners. Now is a good time for partners to submit their gift, test their subscription and OTO pages, enough time to create a gift if necessary. I put very few restrictions when it comes to gifts, when properly presented and marketed even a subscription itself to a good strategy (private or members only) newsletter can be a gift … I only provide with opportunity to access opt-in leads, their retention will be responsibility of each JV partner.
There is a bonus points system in place to encourage JV partners to accumulate points. JV signup page explains it fairly well.

InactiveWhat script are you using? I have the ButterflyMarketing script.

InactiveI have purchased a fixed version of JV Firesale. The reason I mention fixed is because it’s not a secretd that original release was buggy beyond belive …

I only go with scripts that are heavily supported like BF, DLGuard, etc…
I’ve been hacked once. Security is one of the most important things for me.September 14, 2006 at 1:45 am #705938Anonymous
InactiveWell, I fully understand it and can’t really argue with that. On another hand, script I’m using has just been used successfully by at least 2 similar events in IM that I personally know off. Person who provided me with it, during conversation mentioned that he has installed it for more then 10 events in last few months. While it doesn’t guarantee a security by any means, as no script ever does, it is of some assurance. I have taken steps to set as restrictive permissions on server side as possible.
Second option for any potential JV partner is to use an email for registration that was specifically created for this event, for example gmail or yahoo, options are many. I have no intentions of swamping anyone with emails, except provide important announcements related to event. After event is completed – database will be cleaned up and all members deleted. I have also created a JV blog to support this event and address any issues and concerns as they arise.
I have done as much as I could to ensure success but obviously can’t provide a 100% guarantee and any author of any script that does it – will only be misleading. I do appreciate voicing all concerns as hopefully it will allow other people to evaluate the options and weigh the benefits against potential risks, that exist with any internet based program, and the one I’m using is no exception.

InactiveThat’s true, every script will have vulnerabilities in the future. What I was saying is that I only use scripts that are always being developed, so those holes will be closed.
I was now about to buy another script, $300, but when I saw at their forum that the support wasn’t good, and not quick enough updates, I dropped it.
I already have an hard drive full of unused scripts… I’m even afraid of using them…
September 14, 2006 at 11:47 am #705972Anonymous
InactiveI have several gigs of scripts, eBooks, videos etc. on my hard drive as well and when decided to run this event I have considered risks associated with it against benefits. Benefits have won, since I have seen them first-hand by participating in IM events. Even from that crowd I managed to build a fairly responsive mailist.
When I was choosing for a script to be used for this event I was looking for several key things:
- Had to be easy to use and intuitive for both JV partners and future members.
- Had to have several levels of membership, so that each group can see their own menu based on current status.
- Had to provide an option for JV partners to easily submit and later modify their contributed gift if necessary.
- Had to have some form of promotion incentive, so each JV partner actually sees the benefits of promoting this event.
- Had to be easily customized so I could add pages as necessary, for example JV Tools, which I have added with all templates, tools, and scripts to ensure success of event.
So when I have evaluated all scripts that I was able to find that fit those requirements, I have found only Butterfly Marketing (with it’s nearly prohibitive price) and JV firesale. No questions that BM is more secure and more supported but I have managed to get JV Firesale script that was fixed and modified by one of the marketers and actually cost more then when it was originally released. Very same version has been used and is used right now in similar events, so I do have certain level of confidence in version of script that I have, considering combined security of setting rather restrictive permissions on server side during installation.
So, all things taken into consideration, benefits I have personally experienced from this type of events far exceed any worries I had over script itself. And while I would obviously love to see as many partners joining from gambling community as possible, I do appreciate you raising all concerns. Each future partner has to make his own decision and I think this conversation will be of great help to anyone considering.
