InactiveYeah I posted a thread about that earlier today.

I’m actually bummed out that they went under, we did fairly well with them and they paid on time.

ExpertistMemberhmm, i wonder if this is indicative of future companies doing the same stuff as the financial crisis soars?

InactiveI’m not so sure that it’s due to the financial crisis as much as the model of play. To me it’s tough to sell serious poker players on the idea that there are the same hands being dealt at other tables and you could loose based on the poor (loose) play happening at another table. Poker guys like to believe it’s primarily a skill game and having the odds that much in someone elses hands takes away a lot of their edge.
Certainly the poor US economy didn’t help; but as far as other rooms struggling due to this I wouldn’t be too worried.
PS: Right now there are 79,101 players online playing real money poker; we’re ok

TimboMemberGot to agree with you there, its a tough sell to players.

casino.webmasterMemberIt seems like that same old business model is all that really works. I know of dozens of companies over the years that have tried to move outside the box and were either under funded or the idea in general did not convert.

Yea… doubt it.
I kindof liked the idea but most people I tried to explain it to didn’t seem so down. Poker is popular because of its simplicity. Don’t try to change the game.

TimboMemberNice tag line for a site “Don’t try to change the game.” .. hope you don’t mind if I use it!
To really understand poker, you have to live and breathe it. Just like casinos imo.
Like everything else, it comes down to what players want at the end of the day. I am awful poker player, yet I play the game. The whole idea of playing against other players, the odds, the pot, the risks involved and how you can minimise it. I love it. But I still suck. :flush:

casino.webmasterMemberFrom an operators standpoint – poker is much tougher then a casino. The critical mass factor and player liquidity changes everything.
