InactiveI have a friend with Parkinson who has to take this drug and she is now addicted to pogo.
The drug causes the mind to retire into repetative actions, but without it the body would be fairly useless depending on the stage of the disease.
The drug will make it possible to control the body more and use hands in a targeted way, and in her case it eventually caused what would be a gambling addiction, if Pogo were to allow actual money bets. As is, she bets tokens and it’s harmless in that way. It does, however, cause withdrawal from reality, the mind lives entirely in the game.
Writing day and night was one of her earlier symptoms, and binge eating came next. The type of compulsive behavior seems to be progressive and in step with the extent of the disease. Dunno about her libido.
This is really quite sad, she is a highly intelligent person and the disease is eating away at her body, while the drugs eat away at her mind.
To deal with such a compulsion in this case (and others, too) is to substitute a less harmless activity, such as playing at pogo or with purchased games that can be played offline and keep track of wins so one can compare performance with others online lateron. The compulsion does have to be satisfied, but there are ways other than gambling to do it.
