Yes, Empire allows rakeback. They prefer it to not be advertised publicly, but yes, affiliate managers are more than happy to pass out additional bonus codes to rakeback affiliates.

I agree. And that is precisely why Party put them on their own. At peak hours, Party has 10:1 in terms of players when compared to Empire. It will be 100:1 shortly. 6 months or less.

sounds like a tragedy of the commons… got too greedy now will end up with nothing

That is exactly what drives rake back – greed.

Properties that think they can avoid giving retention incentives to good players because they can talk affiliates into doing it for them.

Trouble is – rake back affiliates have no interest on retaining the player for the property – the aff could care less where the player plays, just as long as it’s under him.

Greedy players talking rooms to letting them switch accounts, greedy rooms stealing players out from under honest affiliates.

Greedy affs teaching players how to switch accounts without telling the rooms, greedy affs not paying what they promised…

Such a big can of worms!

    :omg:

Nice welcome thread. I am sure that anybody in this world would feel right at home and jump in to a great community with a welcome like this…. :sarcasm:

Guess it would have been too much to actually start a new one..

You are right, the thread should be split. I”ll see if I can do that.

I would have probalbly been better if empire had responded to someone…

Trouble is – rake back affiliates have no interest on retaining the player for the property – the aff could care less where the player plays, just as long as it’s under him.

Isn’t that universal though? I’d obviously prefer that my players play at properties that are giving me the highest rev. share, but to be honest, as long as they stay with me somewhere, it doesn’t matter to me which room it is.

I’d think the same argument could be used against CPA affiliates. They want to move their players from room to room to get that CPA x 5 or how many ever sites they promote.

I believe the poker sites themselves are as much in a bind on this as the affiliates are. It’s bad enough they have to worry about losing their best players to the massive sites like Party, but then they also have to worry about losing them to other 2nd and 3rd tier poker rooms that allow rakeback, if they do not offer it themselves… :fencing:

It’ll be interesting to see how this has played out a year from now.

BTW — enjoyed both your microphone times at CAC2005, Vegas, even if you had to rush a bit on the blackhat SEO.

    Thanks. :)

    You are exactly right.

And this is an argument for the poker rooms etc to award incentives themselves if they want to retain players. It has been done by casinos for ages. Rake back is nothing but an incentive given to high rollers. Heck, I have been doing that for years myself whenever one contacts me.

Rake back free places can very easily compete with rake back places by offering their own rewards, and by doing that they are holding on to the players they want, too.

It is simply a matter of who pays the piper. The piper will get paid in the end.
