There must be some replies to this thread – the number of CAP members I’ve seen cruising round Amsterdam

InactiveIn Curacao I was the proud owner of a 14 foot Hobiecat! Nothing is better than spending the weekend sailing the shores of the beautiful Caribbean Sea. I was fortunate enough where my house was on an inlet near the sea and launching the boat was not too hard.
Maintaining the boat was sometime a pain when you needed to get new parts but I enjoyed every minute I owned it

Good luck with your sailing lessons,

vladcizsolMemberWhen I was a teenager I used to sail Hobie Cats and small sail boats in Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. I loved it. Then diving and fishing pushed it aside. I still remember the joy of sea spray and wind in my face and the freedom it implied.
Arjun when you are salty and when I have lost a little more weight (we dont want a Hobie Sub) I would love to sail with you one weekend. Lets do it when I am in Cali or when you are over here in Florida.
PS Make sure you download the old Christopher Cross song ‘Sailing’ and give it a listen on the way down to the beach.

biggygMemberwe went to a wedding this weekend ,they chartered a boat ,must have been 200 ft or more and three decks ,absolutely beautiful. The only bad part was the no fishing sign at the back .
My husband and i are in process of building a home on an island 7 miles off the coast of newfoundland called Silver Fox Island. The old house has been taken down already but two years ago we woke up every morning and had our breakfast over the Atlantic Ocean and watched the fishing boats .Until you been deep sea fishing in an ocean ,you really havent been fishing.
My husband’s family is from there and waterfront property in Ontario is nothing like waterfront on an Ocean.I can catch the fish but i dont like the killing part hahaha. So if any of you are ever willing and able to go to that part of the world ,we are more than happy to show you a great time -only those willing to kiss a cod fish are invited lol.August 18, 2008 at 8:53 pm #775996Anonymous
InactiveI’m on the Florida Gulf Coast and have a 24ft Wellcraft. i routinely find time to take it out whether going deep 40- 80 miles out for grouper, snapper, and amber jack or keeping her in close for scalloping and fishing for sea trout, snook and redfish.
There is nothing like fishing for escaping from the hustle and bustle. The only downside is filling up the 85 gallon fuel tank. LOLAugust 18, 2008 at 11:05 pm #776002
Shad LeeMemberI’m big on speedboats.
I tried sailing when I was younger, and will be the first to admit its not as easy as it looks.
Good Luck ArjunCAP

EvelinessaMemberIt’s nice to hear that so many of you guys are into boating activities.
Unfortunately, my first sailing lesson had to be postponed. Although I was planning on renting a boat this weekend, my friend who was supposed to teach me how to sail failed the exam that would permit him to rent the boat to teach me.
Ah well, looks like i’ll be taking the class myself that starts on september 6th. I refuse to even consider buying a boat until I actually learn how to do it!

StarBucksSportsMemberABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
Owned a speedboat in SA. Got it in the middle of winter, and was on the water the next day. Some of my mates were even eager enough to ski behind it that day.
Blue lips and shivers aside, a good time was had by all. Such a shame they are so damned expensive here in Melbourne.
