InactiveIt works best with poker. I have met some very successful poker affs who go around local games and recruit in person.
I have gotten some players chatting up people in Vegas.
If you take such a personal approach, you will need to be personally available for the players with advice and tips.
Public advertising is of course prohibited in many countries. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t mind having a few bill boards.

rialto.melinaMemberI would imagine poker has the best potential for offline marketing.
Otherwise it is typically more expensive and difficult for tracking.

InactiveI have never done any offline marketing but it kills me sometimes because I am a VIP player with a local casino in SA – Piggs Peak Casino and hubby and myself always get invited to various events with them, and it is so hard sitting at a table with a bunch of high rollers and having to keep our mouths shut.
I would love to get my hands on their email addresses, but I don’t, as Piggs Peak trusts me not to try and recruit their players, and it would be very unscrupulous of me to break that trust.November 19, 2010 at 4:46 pm #813373

EvelinessaMemberthats interesting about the tournaments at the casino, but being unable to get to players. Have you heard of meetup.com? it may actually prove to be an excellent opportunity to find out who is interested in poker around you, and get them to play online. Here’s an example of poker meetup groups: poker Meetups around the world – Meetup
I haven’t really heard of anyone marketing to the meetup.com audience or leveraging this as a means to do offline marketing, but would be interested to hear someone try it! I’d be anxious to see someone attend a local poker meetup and turn off those offline people into online players
(for those of you who don’t know what meetup.com is, it’s a cool site where you can find other people in your area who meetup to do activities that you may be interested in)

darknessMemberLand based promotions to be effective are costly…a poster and coaster in a bar are not worth the effort. When I was with Nine and we were Branding the NINE.COM brand it was ludicrous the amount of money spent…billboards, models, swag, BJ tourneys, bobble head dolls, concert venues, magazines, etc.
It worked I can tell you that much but we went BIG! I see Full Tilt everywhere they go HUGE I can’t open a poker magazine or watch a poker tournament on TV without seeing Full Tilt.
It’s in your face marketing and when is no longer in your face it is forgotten.

InactiveHaha, I still have some of these bobbleheads someplace…

InactiveNot sure this is along the same lines off offline marketing.. but I thought this was pretty cool..
There’s a big big poker affiliate I work with.. actually I’d even call him a poker business man the way he runs his network, and his partnership with advertisers and players, very classy operation.
From what I understood, he real world meets advertisers, who are close to their players, and invests into the advertisers, partners, or buys them, and organises real world tournaments for the players amongst other things(perks).
He really believes in the whole personal touch, his moto is, there is no better endorsement then that of another player to a player, or an advertiser to an advertiser – because 75% of the sale is already down via an endorsement.
He also real world meets players, to add that extra level of retention.
By doing real world meetups, the advertisers bring along other advertisers over time, and players bring in other players.
