vladcizsolMemberYes its old news and yes its abuse. And yes DMOZ knows about it and could seemingly care less. There have been past discussions about this at CAP do a search for DMOZ they are still available.
Even Stevie Wonder could see that DMOZ editors are approving either their own gambling sites or those of friends/associates/paid clients.

InactiveI was listed on DMOZ, then removed..
I noted all the same things you see, same owners, same sites linked from different categoried of DMOZ..
I had a long discussion on DMOZ forum about all this and got nothing but abuse from them as well..
In the end here is the scoop of my findings after weeks of investigating this.
The higher ranked DMOZ gambling spots are controlled by a few editors only, and these editors do not looking out for the guidlines set by DOMOZ. I have a forum that at the time had more mmebers and features than ones listed in the chats and forums sections, the editor that added it even complemented it in an email (I still have). It was removed by a senior editor of the catgory and they do not offer any reasoning other than it should have never been listed go away.
After talkign with 2 current editors and an very well know ex-editor I found all my answer, none of thenm good.
A: The high ranking Gambling sections are for the intrests of some editors, not the users.
B: They do have a blacklist, and I am on it for any site I own or they feel im associated with as I opened my mouth.
C: Dmoz is corrupt, its grown so large and important that it was bound to happen.
Its just a link, really dont frett about not being there. For a fun read check the DMOZ forum posts when I found my site delisted and the “Professional” responses. Note at the end I was pissed

vladcizsolMemberShould we report the obvious abuses?
Yes, I dont have a lot of faith that anything will be done, but you are encouraged to do so here:

InactiveThere are a few honest editors; and trust me when I say you dont need a grain of salt with that assessment as they truly are “FEW” and far between.
I also have noted numerous sites in categories owned by the same people; with categories edited by others who are obviousely affiliates themselves. Also seen some evidence a few weeks back that clearly identified a very large fraudulent scheme; it was rather sickening.
Complaints very rarely get followed up on. Its a like a secret society over there; a society of “mostly” low lifes.

InactiveYep, DMOZ is corrupt to the core. I’ve seen their editor’s comment (thanks to a little help from someone on the inside) and they’re utterly self-serving.

InactiveI wish I hadn’t started this thread as I don’t actually agree DMOZ is anywhere near as bad as some people feel.
When I have come across editors I’ve found them to be extremely helpful in a totally non selfish or self serving way.

You are correct as there are good editors, unfortunately the other part of them is what makes the news and defines most of what is allowed to remain!
