I just checked out Digg. It’s pretty cool. Ladyholdem your article is interesting. I want to see what happends…..

I’m waiting for my email conf to finish registering so I can vote a Digg for it.

I think I’m begining to get the idea behind backlinks. On sites like Digg since you write links into the text you are establishing that one way link to a given site right?

What are google site maps……? I know it’s a pretty newbie thing to ask, but once somebody tells me it will be one less newbieism I have ;-)

google has a space where webmasters can submit a map (a list of URL’s) that are on their site.

This also enables google to index the pages you create very quickly.

Hey LadyHoldem, I’ve been considering going the Digg route too, can you share some of the results your articles have gotten you with Digg? What sort of traffic you get from the articles, and what kind of new backlinks you end up with?

Sure Webber, I suck when it comes to images, but I’ll see if my partner won’t create some mini screen shots of analytics over a couple week cycle (showing with and without diggs)

If I did it myself, you’d get a HUGE 4 hour download file hehe ;) If ya don’t see anything in about 2 weeks or so, remind me, I can be a bit spacey (understatement ;) ;) Hehe)

Yupperz, kinda like gooner said, Sitemaps are files stored in your shell that kinda direct google around, just a list of images, generally .xml for google, .txt for yahoo :)

My favorite lil sitemap proggie (free, and easy to use) is softplus g-sitecrawler, it actually build both yahoo and google sitemaps, stores a copy of them to your pc and uploads them to your site :) .. Kinna groovy :)

digg is good to get indexed but not great for traffic , i was #1 almost a week last week for ‘casinos accepting usa players’ and it resulted in 37 unique ips

Agreed- It’s good for indexing and for backlinks (if you write something others blog) and RSS sign ups (though I don’t do much in that area) but popular opinion so far is that even if you get top page on digg, the traffic isn’t much in the way of converting or add clicking traffic.
