InactiveSeveral of my cards were declined when I first tried using them way back in 2001! I had one card that worked with no problems, until late 2002. I switched to PayPal, then Neteller.

InactiveI had rejects as early as 2001 as well. I knew it was going to be a big problem then – and frankly I fully agree with you – if my bank called me I’d tell them where to stick it as well.
I also went from PayPal to Neteller, with FirePay a very short but painful exercise.

vladcizsolMemberMy Debit card is now rejected everywhere also. (Bank of America) and up until about October 2003 it worked even though my other visa labeled cards didnt.

InactiveI have been complaining about this to managers for some time. I don’t know why the credit card option is so prominantly pushed – it results in people being unhappy and not in the mood to play. It is the reason for such lousy conversions from download to real player.
I have been given the answer that credit cards are still being honored, especially those from depositors other than Americans.
I say: Lets have a way to seperate these, give them a different landing page. Lets convert again!
If my webalyzer stats can distinguish different countries, it must be possible to steer different countries to different landing pages with ease. Come to think of it, when I tried to go to bethedealer site from Germany I ended up on a German language landing page. Why not use this for banking? US players to neteller, others to credit card.

GuestHi,
I can still deposit using my visa debit card.

InactiveThe only way I can deposit is via Neteller with my US bank account.
My Capital One cc was rejected over 2 yrs ago. Now I can’t use any cc, only Neteller.January 15, 2004 at 2:11 am #643594

InactiveMy visa was accepted as recent as November 03 at one of the MGS casinos. Good thing Im not a gambler

What can we do about this? I think we need to come together on an action – this is larger than legislation!
Hell can you imagine how many players weve been losing. (Yah I know weve been losing them for over a year now, but heck!) I just woke up and smelt the coffee – LOL!
I think the casinos should remove any logo/method that has been substantially declined! Stop scaring potential players away!

InactiveQuote:I think the casinos should remove any logo/method that has been substantially declined! Stop scaring potential players away! Can’t do that – credit cards are still the major method of deposit for countries outside the US. There’s no easy solution – it’s really up to you to educate your visitors on alternative methods.

InactiveNot had a problem but as Dom pointed about non US cards, think this may be it.
Also would be dead easy for casinos to do redirects based on IP ranges to landing pages, there are many free php scripts for this…
In fact may look at implementing myself…Mr & Mrs US Citizen to a Neteller prominent page….I don’t think this would affect google as php redirects are different from meta refreshes?
Arkyt?

I don’t think this would affect google as php redirects are different from meta refreshes? If by PHP redirect you are talking about the “Location” redirect, that is essentially the same as this only works in the headers – and there’s no telling what Google will do about that LOL.
I would prefer to see some other method for that. I understand exactly what you’re saying, even thought about something like that, but to tell you the truth there are some inherent risks in that besides the search engines – for example, being redirected to a different language page.
It’s not as easy as it looks, unfortunately. It might be better to have some sort of a landing page asking the visitor to choose which page he/she wants to visit in order to get the most relevant information.

InactiveI have no tech input of course. But – when I type http://www.bethedealer.com from my US location, I end up on an English language page.
If I type the identical thing in from my German location, I end up on a German language page.
All one would need to do is to pull out US originated requests and send them to a different page.
Looks to me like it can be done.

Inactive… and what if you’re an American living in Germany and can’t or won’t read German?
That’s the point I’m trying to make.

InactiveWell google sorta is doing that or they were … if you search for say “giochi del casino del gioco” it brings up sites written in that language.
Casinos could easily set up links on their landing page based on location / language / – This would give the user the option to click on a link or not – or something to better address the issue.
I dont think the answer is in PHP Id think it would be better done with mod rewrites, but as spear stated some geo-users may not wish to use that language.
However I think that would have less of an impact than the rejections. Say 52% of all cards are being declined, but you only irritate 12% of geo-users by forcing them into a language site. Then by all means it would be worth it to increase your odds.
I dont have any concrete ideas, I only know something needs to be done and it seems that no one has taken the proper steps. I think the approach of directing users by region could be ironed out.
Yes Dean, may have to start implementing several versions of my sites with redirects based on region. Redirect US users to a site with only links that lead to accepted payment methods. Course the casinos would have to help out and create those pages.
Something more than what is currently being done can surely be done! heh!

Mind you, Google is automatically popping the local version of the website if it has you recorded in the database – for example, when I type “Google.com” I get “Google.co.th” – this I do NOT like. Might not bother the Thais so much, but making assumptions like this could be costly, since probably 10% or more of Internet access here is done by foreigners.
