Yes, it is common.
If your player spends $25 and your CPA is $30 then the room loses money. Of course they are there to make money and not lose it, so all deals have to be so they fund your CPA plus leave a profit for the room.

It just seemed a little unusual that after one week of signing up a few depositers via CPA, they have contacted me and asked me to move to MGR because of this.

What site is it? If it’s Party, they seem to be cracking down on the CPA abusers. Also, in the long run you are probably better on revshare anyway.
