InactiveI know… Just correct the spelling of ‘Gibralter’! Maybe that will eliminate the duplicate penalty! Sorry, couldn’t resist.

InactiveIt’s a press release.
Google expects to find press releases to be duplicate.
I use them all the time without repercussions.

InactiveHi Dominique,
Thanks for the reply, do you know what method Google uses to distinguish between press releases and copied/scraped content?

I’m not actually sure but the feedback from the SEO folk I spoke to was the same as Dom’s.
The one suggestion was to add all Press Releases to a News page which because it will always be growing (with new releases) will not be penalised.

Haha, I wish I knew what went on in google’s head.
But I have been using press releases verbatum on blogs for a long time and no problem.
Most press releases have a strong copyright and you are allowed to copy but not change.
Although I have snuck links in there.

InactiveI share alot of my articles as promotions for my gambling content site… and I use nearly all of the articles I find here, or submitted on my other website, if for no other reason then to help the folks writing for backlinks out. I also post a few press releases that interest me.
The result seems to be that these duplicate pages get a PR of about 2 most of the time, sometimes even 1. However, it doesnt seem to have any effect on the site as a whole.. just a lower PR for that one particular page.
