    Hi,

I’m no SEO expert but I’d guess that one of two things happened. Your site was down for a bit of time during the changeover … or perhaps more likely you may have just changed at the same time that whatever SE it is that was sending you traffic, happened to have changed their algorythem/updated and somebody else edged you out of your ranking spots … therefore making it appear as though it was due to your changing hosts.

I’ve never heard of a SE punishing someone for simply jumping hosts. But then again I wouldn’t put it past ’em. They have all the cards and sometimes they crap all over ya for what seemingly is no apparent reason.

I can’t speak for anyone other than Google, but Google does not penalize for switching IP’s (i.e., hosting services). They look at domain. If you changed domains, then you are certainly subject to the Google Sandbox penalty. I just swithched providers about 10 days ago, was down for a couple of days, while DNS propogation occurred, and all is the same for me.

Otherwise, your ranking reflection is probably related to something you’ve done SEO-wise. I cannot vouch for Yahoo, MSN, and other “2nd-tier” search engine algorith,s.

did you also change the hosting-country?

No, I didn’t change the country, although I was planning to get a UK IP but my new hosting provider defrauded me and gave me a US IP. I’m planning to change my hosting again when I get money back.

google does monitor IP’s If you have an IP from a “bad neighborhood” it will penalize you.

ie if there are many adult or other such sites on that IP or c network google may take less of a look at your site.

I found at least 4 adult sites of 127 on my IP. I’m very angry. There is the worst support and the worst hosting. Soon I’ll change it.

Never use their service: http://www.visionwebhosting.net and
http://www.virtualwebstudio.com/. There is the worst support that I’ve ever seen before.
