I once road an iceberg down a river for about a mile. it was an area still of ice not yet melted that reached clear across the river and one of my buddies got the bright idea if we went back and got a couple of axes we could cut the sides loose and ride the ice berg down the river. of course when things are melting …. the river is up and moving.

about a half mile down the berg split in two (There were 4 of us, 2 on each side) and in the end it split into 4s – each 1 of us to each 1 piece of the iceberg… and we came to a spot where a tree had fallen across the river and caused all the big chunks of ice to build up and then of course there was one spot like a giant drain that was sucking all the water and smaller pieces …… like the ones we were on . down under the ice and tree blockage ….. lucky for me and one buddy we got close enough to the side to jump off before we hit the blockage.

the biggest (and baddest) of our gang jumped off the ice onto the tree and at the very last second reached out and grabbed the 4th guy by the scuff of his neck (shirt) and pulled him to safety or he’d surely have drowned.

    kids :)
