InactiveIt seems like gambling sites are being targetted, someone else from the gpwa had her forum hacked and then spammed with automatic registrations.

InactiveBryan has removed the hacked page. Although it looks like he is now doing security updates as the site is down.

InactiveThis is disturbing news, can these hackers then steal a complete data base of subscribers to forums, message boards, newsletters etc once they have hacked a site, or is that info safe?

InactiveDepending on how they hacked it, if they get access to the server, they have access to all the data. If they can change the page, it’s pretty safe to say that they at least have access to the admin of the software, which would give them complete user info…..

InactiveThanks for the info Fatbill, I presumed website hackers were usually just bored kids wishing to waste their talents by disrupting websites but now there is a commercial purpose to hacking I guess which can’t be good.

InactiveWell, there was no real harm done as far as one can see.
Bryan is uploading the entire site though to avoid anyone getting in again – the security problem was an old script.

They altered my site main page but that was all.

InactiveThats the one downside to open source scripts. As soon as an exploit is discovered everyone running the particular version is at risk. Its best to keep your versions up to date although this can be very time consuming depending on the changes made between versions.
