InactiveSo you saying they didn’t work in your case? Were they casino CDs you tried to give away? Did you get them professionally made with nice labels and cases?
I think one would need to make it all look professional before having any hope.

InactiveI thought of it myself, but anyone actually had any success?

InactiveI think this is kinda secret information. If anyone had any success, perhaps they wouldn’t say so…. I suppose we just have to try for ourselves. :happydanc

InactiveI have tried this on several occasions thru the years, distributed over 20,000 CD’s in various venues and they have all been a bust. Thought I would save you the agony and the cost.

InactiveSponsored a horse race couple of years ago. Each table at the meet had a CD on it. Don’t think I even got a single guest player.
Pah!

Guestwhat I have learned is that although increasing all the time; we are still very much a niche market and personally I think its a foolish endeavor to try and advertise outside the net.
*television being the exception simply due to the masses it reaches
but I didn’t think that for a long time … although I never really tried outside the net much … just listening to other people’s experiences has given me that viewpoint.

InactiveThanks for your great feedback everyone. So the thumbs are pointing down for distributing CDs.
Perhaps the affiliate programs should give us more feedback whether CDs are successful or not. Surely they will know if some of their affiliates continue to use CDs.
Looks like you really need to target your audience then if using CDs.

InactiveI asked about it to cpays and they said ”we cant give this information about it”.

InactiveIf you can’t get the CDs to a targeted list, you are wasting money.
The affiliate programs can’t tell you how well CDs will do. It depends on your targets, not their CDs…

Very good information. In fact, am starting to think targetting may not even work either due to the below comments by FictionNet.FictioNet wrote:Sponsored a horse race couple of years ago. Each table at the meet had a CD on it. Don’t think I even got a single guest player.Pah!
So who do you target? Perhaps you have to sell the CDs, that way only interested people contact you.July 6, 2006 at 7:58 am #697709Anonymous
GuestBasically, the response from targeted CD lists you should be very happy with a 5% conversion, but this always depends on the quality. I have heard of an average of $5000 average player values on CD drops, but very targeted and pricey to send – of course a whale or two helps to push that value up.
General rule of thumb – pamphlet ditribution: 1 – 1.5%, CD’s can expect the same if untargeted, and can expect north of 5% on very targeted lists if the offer is right and well presented. Getting away with $1 on a cd will probably give you a poor product (no offense!) that will get trashed before even being opened. To send properly you will have to pay close to $2 per unit, nicely packaged and NCOA’ed to give you better targeting.
That said, I would be willing to test lists with affiliates – bear in mind that costs will have to be split (or clawed back) as it is not a cheap date to test, and the way we set our sends up we do not gain access to your information – you deal with a reputable mail house that is well known in this industry.
If you have a targeted list of known gamblers then send me a mail at [email protected] and we can start the process

InactiveIf you produce bulk cd’s (minimum 1000 cd’s), with case and cd label, it’s just under $1 a piece. There are also some good deals if you shop around for the cases to be replaced by eco friendly firm paper cases.
Thanks for your feedback on the conversion rates!
