    lol where u been hiding?

cliffnotes from memory (forgive me if some stuff is a bit vague)

    – owners ripping each other off for over a mill, one of em can’t post here anymore. Legal stuff going on.

    – cardspike “controversy”, CAP people “quite possibly” involved in some shady stuff.

    – Meaningless Certifications handed out to anyone who can afford it.

    – Mods being treated like sh1t. loyal mods walking out and saying GTFO Cap.

    – general conflict of interests with CAP owners and affiliates.

-CAP cancun was a joke, organisers knew there was a handful of people going and lots of cancellations on presentations etc, but didn’t tell anyone, claiming they were “busy”

    – loads of big partners leaving and taking their future certification fees with them.

    – CAP loses any credibility it may have had.

    Did I miss anything?

Geez, thats a bit harsh, lol. The rumor mill at work.

No one has been ripped off, legal stuff is going on and monies are being held.

“Certification” has been out of hand, and a completely new system will go live in the first two weeks of this month.

Mods are not being treated like shit.

Cancun was bad, CAP conferences changed hands to Imedia and looks like no one felt responsible for Cancun.

What program is leaving, if any, won’t be out until the new system is in place. From what I have seen of the new system, it will be more credible and financially manageable than any other out there. I haven’t seen any final drafts though.

Out of hand? Try a meaningless sham. Pay $xx,xxx and get “certified”. awesome.

Uh, I was a mod in SEO forum for a few months. I contributed plenty, then one day I told someone who asked for feedback on their site (in a non-seo forum) that their site was horrible from a SEO standpoint.. they didn’t like this but It was my duty [as I was a SEO MOD, it was written under my username ..] Anyway, I was mysteriously De-modded without pm, explanation or anything. Way to treat your helpers well… but God only knows why GARYTHESCUBAGUY got p**sed off with you guys, obviously it’s him not CAP..

BAD? you knew it was going to be a joke with a handful of exhibitors and attendees, and didn’t tell anyone. Claiming you guys were “busy” is a joke, given that you charge 10k+ for “certification”, u can obv hire some people. Talk about unprofessional.

Uh I have seen 2 programs leave already this week, and accounts of the AMs closed . Great affiliate forum this is shaping up to be lol

lol. my comments/thoughts in above. maybe I am full of sh**, but maybe it’s reality check time CAP?

Were you talking to me? You kept using “you”.

I am not CAP, I am a volunteer mod, and I don’t appreciate being held responsible for the actions of others. I am also a volunteer mod at AGD, and neither message board is my business.

My business is the sites you see in my sig. Just to make that perfectly clear. :hattip:

Lol perfectly clear Dominique :) I know you’re a CAP mod, and don’t hold u responsible for anything except good sense, having a good reputation, and working hard!

I was addressing the CAP entity when I said as the “you”s.. you seem to be the defender of CAP these days :), So I guess I slipped it in a few too many times in my chat. sorry `bout that :)

    :hattip:
    cheers

    Thanks :)

I am not so much a defender of CAP.

I just feel that a lot of speculations have been posted everywhere and some of them are totally unfounded. Some criticisms however are right on the spot.

I agree on Cancun being a mess. I also agree on the certification being a mess. And that way too much banning and unmodding and whatever has taken place.

But CAP is still a valuable resource and I helped build it for years on end, so I like to see it change course and become a better place.

You can’t beat the database of discussions that are available on search, if you want to know what others think of programs you are considering working with, IMO everyone elses opinions and comments are invaluable. No point in falling into the same traps others fell in before you.

So I would like to see CAP drop the bad and restructure, so we can preserve the resources we have here.

Bannings have stopped and free speech is restored, and the certification is next and soon.

Just bitching about what was isn’t going to help structure what will be. I like to think forward, and if enough of us do that, we can shape what will happen here in the future.

    I think that’s worth a shot.

okay some positivity and thoughts and non-cynicism from me (yes, really!)

    – bannings stopped = good
    – free speech = brill
    – deleting / disabling accounts of people who drop out of sponsored programs = not so good from affiliates standpoints.
    – accountability / transparency is necessary- where is it? who deletes/demods/disables accounts? will the real slim-shady please stand up. [edit: uh letting multiple users use AdminCAP account = MAJOR FAIL!]

    @dom
, you have obv worked your ass off on CAP (as your postcount will testify), and I would hate to see it fall to bits for you.

Right now for me personally CAP is simply a good place to talk to other affils, find out what programs are scamming and of course to do some content/link exchanges. but It should be so much more. . Hopefully in time all the BS/scammery will be eliminated (but to be frank, it was a good scam while it lasted.. chuckle)

What does cap mean to other posters on here now compared to say a year ago I wonder?

CAP just needs a renaissance… hopefully it’s about to happen properly.

I have a couple of answers:

    who deletes/demods/disables accounts?

Posts don’t ever get deleted anymore. If the author decides they made a mistake posting in the first place ( happens occasionally) they can ask me to remove the post and I will store it where it is not visible (in case the author changes his mind again, but that hasn’t happened).

Disabling accounts is only done per the new posting rules. That means warnings, and if more transgressions happen, vacations. Disabling an account is the last resort and has to be approved by both mods and admin.

Demodding – hasn’t happened since the restructure. Mods ask to be demodded. If there is a serious problem, it would likely be handled like any other member account, via the posting rules.

Personally, as mod I don’t tolerate personal attacks. It’s a professional forum, and we can attack opinions of others all we like, but not the other person him/herself. When that happens, one word leads to another and we just have a flame that has nothing to do with the actual issue anymore. I’d like to see us all more professional than that. If people want to duke it out they can do so in the freeforall section, or better yet, away from the message board.

Nice post, Alex, and I think this

deleting / disabling accounts of people who drop out of sponsored programs = not so good from affiliates standpoints

is a very interesting point. I assume you are talking about the programs here. Maybe CAP can stay a point of contact in such cases… there should be a way to handle this… like letting non-member programs reply to complaints…
