biggygMemberif you are canadian and marketing to canadian players there are some ‘gray ‘ legal areas .I have about 50 casino websites now and i NEVER put anything there to target canadian players. In ontario there are some laws passed about advertising to sports and poker i think. In any case I am not a lawyer but my lawyer -he is gaming lawyer from Quebec -advised me not to do it .

indiaadvMemberI found this…http://www.gaminglawmasters.com/articles/2004/online_canada.htm but would that include say i make a site that gives tips such as the hands for poker and and information about real casinos and such articles. how would i monetize it? plus what about this http://www.maplecasino.ca/ wouldn’t that be considered marketing to canadians. and don’t they need a canadian entity to own a .ca?

giftorgbestMemberWe don’t know when Canada will follow the US law to prohibit online casino. I am Chinese who live in Hong Kong, but I do never promote online gambling into Hong Kong or China.

InactiveIf you use a .ca and promote to Americans… when Americans see your website they will automatically assume that you are a website for Canadians and they will skip your website and move on to the next.

InactiveI’m Canadian (unfortunately) and about 40% of my players are canadians. Simply state that you’re an advertisement company. Just never talk about what you advertize.

biggygMemberi get alot of canadian players too but i never seek them out ,that is the issue when you put it in black and white.
my domains are .com some are hosted in canada.problem is when you wave a sign and say canadians come play at my website.problems are for canadian residents .April 8, 2008 at 12:37 am #765125Anonymous
Inactivexxxprincepoker.comxxx is an example of french poker website marketed 99% towards canadian players. They’ve received attention in medias.
Of course, casinos and sportsbooks are frowned upon more than poker rooms. But really, the cops have enough on their hands so they aren’t pursuing people.
Law enforcement agencies have a way higher aggressive stance against gambling in the US than in Canada.
I really have no worries about it. Only way I could see a problem is if you were openly advertizing it.

InactiveIf you live in Canada, don’t put anything towards canucks. If they come to your website its a grey area since the web is free info.
