InactiveWe got a booth at the CAC where we wanted to launch our new affiliate program, but just in the past week I have received notice from several of our potential partners that they are cancelling, this could be a potential disaster for us since we have invested a lot of money into this event.

InactiveYou can likely take advantage of the absence of competition by some of the very large programs.

InactiveThat is absolutely true
We never intended to cancel anyhow.Karim Dahmani

InactiveLE isnt going to announce their plans ahead of time. It was because of leaks that some of us were tipped off about potential plans. If you are going to be at the Stardust be careful; you can bet they already have a photo of you as last year I heard a filming/photo crew were permitted into the convention.

InactiveAXL, You are on crack. WE HIRED A FILMING CREW in Amsterdam for the promotional Video.
There will be NO videos taken of anyone at CAC LV 2006. OUR Photographer will provide US the photos and no one else. You can see photos from our previous events on our website.
This has become absolutely amazing. I’ve learned stuff that I am not at liberty to write publicly, needless to say we have taken the position that there is NOTHING to worry about at this event. The Stardust wouldn’t allow us to have this event if they suspected an embarrassing public incident. Especially as they have sold the business.
What I am seeing in the online gaming industry is a separation of the ‘Men from the Boys.’ Most of the delegates are still coming. We still have alot of exhibitors at this event as well. The parties are still taking place. The dust is settling over the news. Meanwhile, the ‘boys’ continue whine like sissies online across the internet.
Maybe its for the better. This will be an event of entrepreneurs with GUTS, something I admire.

Marc–
You’re a businessman who makes your living off bringing people together. With this in mind, I cannot fathom statements as you’ve made, particularly the bit about “‘boys’ whining like sissies.”
Yes, there is an enormous amount of rumours running rampant, however, faulting someone for erring on the side of caution is offensive and insulting.
My understanding is that with the larger programs who’ve opted out have done so on advice by their corporate legal advisors. It is a corporate decision and those who are not attending as a result are terribly dissappointed. Still want to call them “sissies?” I’m certain those not attending would not appreciate your assessment of them and will remember this with events to come.
I’ve had several people contacting me asking my opinion whether to attend or not. In each case, I’m hesitant to outright say “yes.” While I honestly believe there is nothing to worry about, heaven forbid something DID happen while entering the US or another scenario–I certainly would not want that resting on my conscience.
Everyone needs to make their own decisions and IMO this should be respected without insults, name-calling and all that goes along with it. Things are stressful enough as it is.

We spent a great deal of time with our lawyers discussing the risks of travelling to the States after the recent events. After much deliberation we decided that no matter how small the risk may be, it wasn’t worth taking. We by no means took this decision lightly, and all of us on the WagerShare team who were due to attend your event are very disappointed to not be able to do so.
We have had to break arrangements we’d made to meet with many affiliates and as such missed an excellent opportunity to see old friends and business partners, and forge new ones.
I would think that under the circumstances you would understand that you would lose some of your exhibitors and sponsors. What I find absolutely incredulous is the level of respect that you have for your customers, especially like those of us at WagerShare and others who have now cancelled, who have been loyal to your events for some time.
A display of such a lack of professionalism doesn’t lend any credence to your posts that are supposed to ease our concerns.

Casino Affiliate ConventionIt wasn’t like we wanted to throw away the $5000 exhibitors fee, but as I’ve explained above we were left with no choice. At no point have you offered some sort of compensation to the fee, even if it was tied in with Amsterdam 2007. Whilst I understand that you have no obligation to do this under your terms and conditions, it is quite common in any business (especially the affiliate industry) to compensate in these situations in the interest of forming a long term partnership.
You seem completely oblivious to this and having taken our $5000 all we’ve received from you in return is name calling and an ugly taste in our mouths.
Also, I was sure that was the 60 minutes film crew on the show floor last year and judging by how quickly the show cleared, so did everyone else. If this was never the case you would do well to let people know (in a more professional manner than above) because it is a widely believed rumour.
Sincerely,
Tim Whyles

InactiveHi Axl
You are correct about the film crew, I was 99% sure that was the case but I’ve just had the fact confirmed to me. The 60 minutes crew were allowed into the show floor and anyone in the room was given short notice to make a choice as to whether they wanted to be on national television or not.
Best regards,
Tim

Aside from the grammatical errors, what an unusually silly thing to say from someone in your position. Sure, you’ve brought together the best groups in the industry a few times and let them do their thing – power to you – but you must be very short-sighted to bite the hands that feed you.
I only joined here the other day because of the current situation – thought it would be a good place to gauge reactions, help me figure it all out. For the CAC organiser to post against his clients just sounds like sour grapes to me and is not helpful in any way – only to show us how quickly you can throw your toys out of the pram when things don’t go your way.
Unprofessional, Marc, at the very least. Uncalled for, certainly. We all have choices on this earth and make them given the best advice available to us. There’s a message in there somewhere…
No offence intended, just call it as I see it.

InactiveHey Marc,
We were also planning to go to CAC – send 2 people from Toronto, and upon advice from Counsel we will not be attending (this year). Now that does not mean we will not be in attendance in Amsterdam or next year’s event. In fact, we sent 4 people to last years CAC.
Your statements in this thread are very ignorant and self-fulfilling. There are numerous people here with a great deal at stake including their personal lives.
I tell you what, if you are SO CONFIDENT that there will be no legal or offensive action at this event, why don’t you post at $100,000 bond held in trust for any potential legal fees. If you are a “risk taker” and have the “Guts” then that should not be a problem for you.

Casino Affiliate ConventionMark, I am on crack? Give me an break buddy! You permitted 60 minutes a entity with known connections to the USA government into the conference. And you can bet that they took plenty of footage and they did hand over the footage with plenty of name tags cearly shown. Rumor? You keep thinking that way; you just might be the first one detained.
Guts? Yah it takes guts to talk BS and to rip people off. It doesnt take much to do the right thing. Men from sissies? People you are paying this guy big $$ to go to his conferences. See how professionally he conducts himself. He cares about one thing and one thing only; making money off of you!
I sure hope that all these sissies remember that you have degraded their judgement the next time one of your conferences comes around.
I recommend everyone go to the Bahamas with CAP. People be smart here!

I agree, very unprofessional Marc.
Perhaps you think a man would ignore the advice from his lawyers and partners and risk his family’s livelihood to attend a trivial conference. I think a ‘boy’ would be the one who goes to party in Vegas anyway…
I’ve sponsored CAC events multiple times, including this year, but will be reconsidering doing so in future if that is your attitude.
