I would love to go to CAC Moscow in June.
But i am not sure who else is thinking about attending too.
And with only low visitors its not worth the travel.

Its only weeks after CAP Spring Break and Moscow sounds expensive.

Unless you want to go with the fancy hotels, Moscow is no more expensive than London. There is a great subway system and you can basically get anywhere with it.
There are also cheapo flights from various European cities, so money should not be a factor here. :)

Are the airport signs (and other signs throughout the city) in English? Does anyone there speak English? It would be cool to visit Moscow someday, but I probably wouldn’t do it unless I knew that I would be able to read the signs and communicate with at least some people in English.

Will the conference itself be in English or in Russian?

If it’s in English, but it’s about gaming in Russia, why not just have a Russian-themed, English-language conference in London, or Montreal, or somewhere similar?

If the conference is geared toward affiliates based in Russia, then I suppose Moscow would make sense. Although I still wonder if the seminars will be presented in Russian or English. If they’re in Russian, that would make the most sense. But if they are in English, again, why not have the conference in some other English-speaking country?

I suppose, most seminars will be in English.

i’m pretty sure that the whole conference would be in english. it wouldn’t make sense to have it in russian since most operators wouldn’t speak a word of it.

in terms of the signs, they are in english @ the airport and major streets. i think most subway stations also have signs in english.

out of all my friends who have been to moscow, one way or another, everybody had a crazy experience even with the language barrier. it’s just much more different than the western world so its quite a bit of fun.

as one of my friends put it, you cant beat a guy travelling with a dressed monkey on a leash in the subway :roflmao: that was something he actually saw.

i definitely wish i could attend, as moscow by itself is a fabulous place for going out and its a lot cheaper than london. at least if you don’t go to a 5 star hotel. but i can’t come….

Many people over there dont understand English and its relatively hard to find your way around if you cant read cyrillic. With their Metro, taxis and buses you will eventually get everywhere however. :)

Moscow is a great place to make money and talk about it. I am very interested how the conference turns out there.

Does anyone know what kind of permits/Visas (if any) are required to go to Moscow? I was there in 2003 for a week and had to issue a Visa more than a month before flying there.

you probably need a visa to enter unless you are from former ussr excluding baltic states and georgia.. to my knowledge, the best way to get a visa is through a travel agent that works with russia. they will do all the running about for you.

Thanks for reminding me about that. We’re too busy here planning for Amsterdam.

I’ve updated the site. Here you can find Travel and Visa info for the event. You can do it on your own or use a company. Usually the company charges an extra USD $100 or so for fees. Its worth it because it saves time from actually going to the embassy, waiting on line, coming back the next day, etc.
