Well, until we hear an explination and this is stopped, we have no choice but to redirect all of the CB links. I’ll be working on that today. It’s a shame we do quite well with the poker room.

Hi there, I am not sure I fully understand what you are referring to and what explanation you are looking for…
GoldenPalace.com is the most well-branded online casino, so why would you consider redirecting your links?
Please let me know so we can help each other out.

The point is that there is such a thing as bad publicity.

In 15 years time, what are they going to say when someone asks about the origins of their name?

“Well our family was having financial trouble so my name was auctioned off to a online casino for $15k”

    What a great life!

I hope the parents and GP marketing department is happy with themselves.

The parents and GP Marketing are two separate entities. The parents are putting up these sorts of auctions on EBay and GP is taking advantage of marketing and branding their product. This in turn, creates brand recognition for the online casino(s) you market as an affiliate.
What negative impact does this cause to the casino or to the affiliates?
It actually increases brand recognition, increases your player’s conversion rates, and increases player retention.
When someone searches for “casino” and automatically ends up on GoldenPalace.com because it is all over the InterNet, News, etc… that is only to your advantage in terms of aquiring new players, and player retention.
    It’s a win win situation.

Unbeliveable! I cannot believe you see this as a win win scenario. By participating in this auction Golden Palace show themselves to be morally bankrupt as much as the parents do.

Gambling has enough of a social stigma attached to it especially in the US, where a many of our players come from and this stupid marketing ploy just adds fuel to the fire.

All online casinos and poker rooms should IMO support responsible gambling. This ‘stunt’ by Golden Palace basically passes on the message that they do not give a damn about their social obligations and responsibilities as a ‘reputable’ online casino. This is very telling and I can only wonder how they treat their customers.

The mere fact they have done this shows IMO they put their profit before the image and standing of the entire industry as a whole.

They are rogued on my sites and quite rightly so as a result of this. I will ensure all my visitors are made aware to steer clear of Golden Palace as a result. Your defence of their actions will also ensure I never affiliate with casino blasters, whilst you condone this type of marketing activity.

There are many other ways to advertise. Buying the naming rights of a newborn baby shouldn’t even be an option. Not all publicity is “good” publicity. This particular “guerilla marketing tactic” (if that’s what you want to call it) has upset a lot of people here, and this type of thing tarnishes the reputation of the entire industry.

I am in awe, I can’t believe you don’t see the harm in this. Think about the poor child that has to live his/her life with a casino name. It’s disgusting, it’s disgusting that a mother would allow this but just as bad that a casino would want to promote like that.

I can’t imagine how I would feel if I was a mother. It makes me sick to my stomach.

If your organisation refused to buy things like this, then perhaps the parents wouldn’t have put the name up for auction in the first place. I think you have to take some of the responsibility for creating this type of market in the first place. Go ahead and buy cars, toast and other objects, but to participate in forcing something on some-one who cannot defend themselves is crossing the line.

Branding, marketing, awareness etc is a convenient excuse and used far too often when people just plain stuff up and then try to cover themselves.

    So.
If I tattooed my anus with the website of the winning bidder and put it up on ebay for auction, for showing at special events you would consider buying it because it is “publicity”?

NO you wouldn’t, no one wants to be associated with an arsehole! In this case that is the only place I would consider displaying GP.

The parents are despicable, the child has little voice in this instance, how much of a lack of forsight can a publicity department have? A lot it seems.

    Dear Affiliates,

We appreciate your concerns and are aware that some of our affiliates are not pleased with Golden Palace’s recent Ebay purchases. However, please keep in mind that Golden Palace is not responsible for the actions of the individuals who auction these various things.

In addition, consider the various angles of these purchases. Most of these individuals are in difficult financial situations and Golden Palace see it as a way to help. Consider the parents who auctioned their baby name, they may not have enough money to weather the financial addition a newborn can add to a budget. Consider, it….this money goes into the newborn’s education, clothing, overall well being and eases the tension that these parents may experience.

Again, we appreciate your concerns as well as your comments and will forward it to the marketing department at Golden Palace.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Jackie, charity is not an act where you expect something in return other than feeling good about yourself. If you want to help people then just give them the money, don’t do it for branding and marketing.

And as I said before, you are helping to create the market by buying these things. You can’t assign all the blame/responsibility to the parents.

Please. It is just as likely, if not more so in this instance, that it will end up in someones arm! This is not the definition of charity and a pretty rediculous claim to boot. This is not excusable and you are making petty excuses.

The whole things stinks IMO. Yes golden palace will be getting publicity, but it will be all bad as far as my sites are concerned. I hope they enjoy it.

LMAOOOO!! You really believe the parents are spending money on that baby?
Anyone sick enough to exploit their child is not going to spend money on the baby!

Your just as guilty of exploiting this baby, this just makes me SICK!

I am real sure if you wanted you name out there and for good causes you can contact Sally Struthers and give her 15k!!!!
Better yet you can open your own orphan house name it Golden Palace for parentless children and raise them ALL until the age of 18, then after that pay for college for everyone of them!

Dean you about made me :Pisser: my pants with the a$$hole line.lmao
