Find out where the domain is registered (as opposed to hosted – may be the same place). Whoever is the account holder log in and request a “domain transfer” which should be a menu option – although some places carefully hide it to try and put people off transferring away from them. The rest should be self explanatory. It will email authorisation codes and stuff.
