These are the worst results yet. Somehow my website datingaffiliateprograms.net is no where to be found under ‘dating affiliate programs’ and the website http://www.globalhighways.com is in the top 10?

That is just one of thousands of examples.

There is absolutely no relevancy anymore.

    Hi Prof,
why do you say so, I think that most of the results are affiliate ones, do you have any specific examples?
I like the update, only did OK for my sites which came back from nowhere …

Janet I am happy for you, but ALL of my remaining portals that hadnt been eliminated by the Florida update are now gone from Google. I have a wife, five children and an elderly mother to feed. If it were up to Google we would be homeless. I cant emphasize enough what damage these recent Google updates have done to the vast majority of affiliates who are marketing online.

Yes, there are some people who so far remain unscathed (for now), but that is the exception NOT the rule.

And dont think its because we have shitty sites or did keyword spamming or havent established quality links or anything else, we are simply being filtered into oblivion by Google.

Take a look at some of my older sites, they are well designed, have decent content excellent links etc… But ALL of my gambling sites (over 100) are GONE.

Heres a few sites that have been online for YEARS until the recent google updates they were top 10 for their respective terms:

    Casino Gambling Network
    http://www.casino-gambling-network.com

    Casino Ratings Guide
    http://www.casino-ratings-guide.com

    Online Casino Diectory
    http://www.online-casino-directory.com

    Video Poker Prophet
    http://www.videopokerprophet.com

Now compare those sites with the absolute garbage Google is displaying for those terms and tell me these are improvements that Google made

This is utter crap and I am disgusted with Google. They suck!

    these are nice sites!

since I am a native hebrew speaker we have a saying here that I will try to translate it to english:

“if the mountain does not come to MOHAMMAD, then MOHAMMAD should come to him”

What I mean by that is that you should adopt to google if he does not consider your sites valuable then the others obove you, and PLEASE do not take it personnaly, I am saying that just becouse you were kind and have helped us when we started and we owe you that.

BTW, I also have 3 kids and I fully understand what you are going thrue

While I dont have as many mouths to feed as the Professor, I have also suffered from these google changes.

I have less than 10 websites left in google out of nearly 100.

Yet when I make a search there’s clearly irrelevant results, amazon books, yahoo directory results, and clearly corporate listings.

It’s googles job to find the most relevant website for a keyword, so why cant they stick to doing this?

I will agree – these results are MUCH worse than last month … I have also lost a few more sites that Florida hadn’t consumed. It seems that Google wishes to play God, and have a direct impact on thousands of individuals and their commercially related keyword phrases!

I know there are a lot of people who would say “its there engine they can do what ever they want!” Well I don’t buy that crap. Hell at one time they probably had 75%+ of online searches and that to me means they had/have an obligation and/or responsibility to present the most relevant results.

They should not be permitted to manually arrange sites as THEY see fit. They have always been against sites using techniques designed to affect rankings, so why should they be allowed to do it themselves? Least of all when it is having a direct impact on numerous individuals/groups financial status.

Whats crazy is during Florida a good percentage of my sites vanished, but somehow my overall traffic increased. I have to accredit this to users choosing to use other engines. I think that can be a good sign for all of us – lets hope all searchers select a new engine – sooner than later! Start thinking about alternatives – it seems Googles day in the sun is about done!

Of course if I was still in the top 10 I’d not be complaining, for everyone thats upset their will be someone loving it. Oh well time for another drink

Google confirmed today that they are penalizing websites with original content and rewarding websites using spamming techniques.

It makes me wonder why I’ve been spending years designing quality websites. It’s much more effective to throw a few pages together with the latest keyword spamming.

I am sick of wasting my time, when Google has clearly proven to me that what they are looking for is crap websites with crap content.

Today, I am going to start playing Googles game. I”m still going to design original websites, but for other search engines like Inktomi that look for them, and for advertising. Obviously google allows webmasters no other choice but to play this silly game.

Also, Yahoo announced that they will be dropping google within the first quarter of 2004. What that means is that in the worst case scenario Yahoo users have to put up with these crap results for another 50 days. Dogpile is all ready displaying the Inktomi results in its Yahoo section, so I doubt there’s 50 days left.

I have also seen an increase in nongoogle traffic, so obviously this little game they have of playing God is backfiring and they are losing a steady stream of users.

The filter seems to be applied only when there are adwords for a particular search frase.
One of my sites came back after the adwords were gone. It is obvious that the filter has only one purpose: Increase the income of Google. Search quality is less important.

they’re digging their own grave with a backhoe. I’m not a SEO but I use SEs and I’ve switched to msn.

    I bet I’m not alone.

Im gonig to start focusing on the other engines – inktomi first of all. I think they will soon gain back what they used to have and more!

Course Ive never optimized for them, but Im not about to set around and let Google dictate the adventure …

I went to Chapters yesterday (similar to barnes and noble) and I noticed an Encyclopedia that’s powered by Google. I of course proceeded to hide those books behind other encyclopedias.

    I hate those pricks!
