InactiveI think you need to get a logo(branding) before you set up all the social media stuff.

Top Betting LinesMemberHi Rak
I’ve come across the ‘urgh’ as well, especially if you’re trying to handle everything at the same time. Everyone will probably say: Create a structured target plan and abide by it, analysing what works and what doesn’t. Sounds ideal, but it doesn’t always go down that route.
I guess you’re already doing the following, but instead off adding further top-level categories, I would break each individual one down. It baffles me how some webmaster seem to handle several projects and the elements that come with it i.e. social media. I’d be interested to find out.
Anyways, a few tips – or how I would approach it…
Sexy looking website, yes, but laid out with future changes or improvements in mind. The more content floods the site, the more ideas for improvements you should automatically come up with. If the initial site structure does leave little or no room for improvements, it will be a pain to apply any changes.
It depends how flexible you want your website (or CMS for that matter) to be. If you’re working on the project alone and you are a semi-experienced webmaster, a suggestion would be to check into software that let’s you manually create a website template and save it out for WordPress use – or another CMS potentially. It may not tick off all the boxes i.e. no template updates of course, but saves time and frees you from having to use pre-made WP templates. Then again, if you know you’re code, you’ll be laughing.
If you have the time (and patience) to do the whole social media at the same time, then give it a go. Guess that these days, without social media, it’s not even worth starting. Do you write your own news articles? These could be re-used as social media posts or consider working with someone else to cover off the odd share of work.
Also consider Google +. From what some say, it’s the ‘next thing’. YouTube is a good one. Support your content with relevant videos, it appears to me making a difference for me, but can be time consuming.
Regarding the ‘instant impact’, I believe it will take a few months before you see the first spikes in traffic. Don’t want to sound like another SEO dude, but I’d say, try keep adding up to date and good content whenever you can.
Good luck with getting out of that ‘never ending cycle of development’, maybe I made it worse.

CasinoGemMemberI suggest for quick impact choose unique name for domain name, or you will be in my boat i’m in constant battle with the big G for months as my domain has casino games and lists top 3 searched names. Though I’m gonna stick it out and eventually be worth it, for imediate impact i’d go with a unique name that you wont be battling keywords to get yoru site to come up.
Also yes youtube is good i found some good results already.

InactiveI have a pretty good domain name for this project.. but the logo.. I’m very picky, has to be simple, easy to be printed on, easy to use on dark or light background when inverted.
Andy GuardDog had a pep talk to me last night and put me on the right track. I think its great having a bunch of different people to bounce different ideas, concepts off and to energise each other to keep pushing them forward.
Back on track!!! back on track!!!
Just need to find a decent logo design.. I’ve tried 3 already 😮

InactiveI know exactly how you feel, but keep in mind that you don’t have to have everything perfect in order to launch. It’s seems like you’re a lot like me and want to get the logo right before going forward. For some reason the logo dictates everything else I do when building a new site.
The only advice I can give you is to step back for a couple of days and then re-evaluate the site. Take a weekend break and go do something fun and exciting. You’ll come back refreshed and with a new set of eyes on the project.

Totally agree with you about not getting everything perfect before launch. I’ve been learning that branding, looks, appeal, content, monetisation is key. And just like you, I’m finding the logo is dictating the colour scheme of my sites.
One thing I did which I really helped me was – list out the core elements of your site to get it live, and then list the minor features, bells and whistles which come in after the site is live.

I’m going through an “urgh” phase at the moment. My latest project feels like it is in a never ending cycle of development.
And as silly as it sounds – I’m not sure what I really need to launch?
Feel free to add and remove stuff, need some guidance, my brain feels like mush.
logo
sexy looking website
complete content (it never completes)
setup facebook
setup twitter
(what other social networks should i look at?)
get programmer to code wordpress plugin which interacts with my cms
get content girl to finish data miningwhat else am i missing?
and when i launch this baby, how should i go about getting “instant impact?”
sometimes launching will allow the focus to complete the finer points – just go for it because the site looks great!
