Not ok for Yahoo US, but it is for Yahoo UK.

I know its alot of work, but it pays to submit your site to as many directories as you can – you get alot of one way links this way and you would be surprised how many you come accross that have decent PR. This can significantly help you get off the ground, just takes alot of work.
