seedingltdMemberI used it when I had SERP problems and it instantly (one day) improved my rankings. But Assuie Dave and others point out that being care full would be smart. In my case I have very few back links so a bad one effected me greatly. Most agree if you do it, stick to just a couple of domains. Keep in mind at first it like pleading guilty. Eventually I believe that the disavow data will be used de-value sites that are claimed bad by multiple webmasters.

uniqueiMemberJust want to bump this thread again.
We’ve used Google’s Disavow link tool to remove the bad links pointing to our site. As a result our traffic has gone up by a whopping 30%.

gokkenMemberI removed the post as it gave away too much information which could be used in negative way.
Quick question, is there program or URL where I can check backlinks and it gives me the option to save them to a file?
I have over 1000 links pointing back from a single blog site (dofollow) which I never added my url to in the first place. Lets just say someone Googled bowled me

So trying to add each URL to a list (every link I want disvowed must be added to that list), is going to take forever if I have to do it manually.

Hi Dave,
To be honest we were rather cautious using G’s disavow tool since many webmasters advised us it’s to be used with caution.
Long story short we decided to bite the bullet and really happy we did so. The disavow tool should be used only when really bad links point to your site. In other words sites that have no relevancy to your niche whatsoever. We picked up a ton of bad links pointing back to our site; a whole bunch of them was from Updowner.
You could use xxx.backlinkwatch.com it’s free and they’re not bad.
Just upload the file with all your bad links to G’s Disavow tool. If you need any help just shout.

seedingltdMemberHey Dave, you have to pay someone to do it by hand I would imagine, or sit back relax…crack open an ice cold whatever cause you got a bumpy ride ahead of you. A domain name that holds no relevancy is not always part of a “bad neighborhood” to coin Google exact phrase. Grab those bad boys and paste em to notepad line by line, that’s the file you will use for the disavow tool anyway.
