InactiveI could not agree more… I remember trying to join something important (for the life of me cannot remember what it is now) but the captcha was like the ones at the bottom of your post – wtf is this?
I had to try about 6 or 7 times to get it right. SOOOOO ridiculous.

voodoomanMemberI was sent a marketing email recently about an application that can automatically enter the correct “code” into the captcha field. It’s something new and will be released in a few days.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, they said if I subscribe now I will be one of the few to test drive it free for 7 days.
I’ll keep you posted.

TramalosriMemberHaha nice post, I totally agree with this one, and some even differs with Capital letters or not, so you are not sure if it is a 0 (Zero) or a O
So sometimes I just skip signing up, but all depends on how badly I want to be a member or get hold of what I want.

InactiveIt is certainly a pain-in-the-ass, but obviously, it is put in place to assure that responses are from humans, and not bots. What annoys the heck out of me, are the “captchas” that consist of scripted letters, in varying fonts, that are always not discernible. What is more annoying is that with some poorly designed systems, if you enter the wrong response code, it makes you fill out the entire form again, rather than just the response code. That is particularly aggravating ! My solution is always to stick to numbers, and stick to one font. Any bot that screen scrapes, will parse the HTML text anyway, and font will be absolutely no deterrent at all – except to the real-time user, who has to decipher that mess !

cybersportsMemberOk here’s my 2 cents..no matter how hard i try i am always off by one letter which makes me have to start all over again! If I have to re-enter my information more than once, I just give up..
I think they should forget about the stupid codes and create a link that allows you to hear the letters. Then all you would have to do is Listen!!!! :roflmao:

The only problem I can see with hearing the letters is that in every language each letter is pronounced differently.
For example, in french, e and i sound opposite to what we hear them in as english.. so e sounds like i and i sounds like e.
