As long as the casino or poker room doesn’t have a problem with it, I see nothing wrong with it. The keyword weight in the domain name is important, but it’s such a small fraction of everthing involved in good seo. I have seen domain names taken away though because of this and some of them were good pr sites.

Say in one of those websites (with the merchant name in it), after years of hard work you have good SERPS, links and income.

That could be the exact moment to receive a phone call from the merchant and the attorney….

It is a bad investment IMO

Exactly – and it doesn’t really start to get noticed by the big guys until you start getting bigger yourself. I think though with a partial merchant name and if it is somewhat generic there are grounds for a dispute. But who wants that kind of hassle anyway? You don’t need the merchant name in the domain name to get top rankings for the keyword. You just have to be educated and good at seo.
