I don’t think it’ll hurt – just as long as you were careful and had your space helmet on.

No offense meant, but I’m not sure I fully understand the issues. Can you post a link to the proposed legislation. Is this a white paper, a green paper or something already tabled for the Canadian parliament ? I’m presuming that, as Canada’s parliamentary system is similar to ours in the UK, you have white, green and tabled proposals for your parliament.

My signature will hold no weight with the Canadian government, but the arguments against this bill that I read on the link you posted make no mention of the contents of the legislation itself. It makes it hard to judge the value of an argument when you only get one side.

Basically, Tryme, it’s about peer-to-peer file sharing.

There is an article about it here: http://www.globetechnology.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20041104.gtcopyrightnov4/BNStory/Technology/

One of the things it proposes is to make ISP’s be held liable for what their subscribers are doing on the internet, with regards to copywrite infringements. It’s like blaming Ford for a bank robbery if the robbers used a RAM truck for their getaway.

I believe the responsibility lay with the people who are committing an illegal act, not the ISP.

People need to be held responsible for their own actions. The trend away from personal responsibility to blaming others (such as gambling affiliates being blamed for for someone losing money while gambling online) is nonsense.
