InactiveNot quite sure why I am being refered too. The CAP forum was for sure ripped and content stolen. But it looks like this “learner” has made the appropiate changes. There is no way this was done by mistake, but perhaps he has learnt from it.
Ripping sites is not a good thing, try and be creative. greek39

InactiveNow you know why I tag my posts sometimes. Just to let my community know whether friend or foe take action or not.

InactiveI just went to his site and it’s still up and running although don’t know if he has changed anything yet as I didn’t see his site after your first post professor.
When you posted his info, it said he started in 2001 unless I read it wrong, but I see he is a recent referback affiliate w/ his affiliate id almost at 101K
This guy is from Troy Michigan and yet can’t speak english – which is what I gathered from his syntax anyway.

InactiveI think we all can be in agreement that these are affiliates just trying to get rich quick without having to earn their money. I made a post a week ago and unfortunately only had one reply. Maybe I posted it in the wrong spot.
I am going to quote it here – hope you don’t mind professor.Hi Everyone,
Even though I guess I can be considered a veteran in the affiliate “business” for going on 8 years now, I do consider it a business, a successful one that has allowed me to retire 4 years ago.
I never really was one that took advantage of the reciprocating link exchange programs, even though from what I have read helps the PR rating.
And I am quite certain that Dom can attest, after logging many hours and years of hard work, there’s an enormous amount of so-called webmaster business people that still see the need to steal content, just to leech off the successful, hardworking entrepreneurs like most of us are.Anything worthwhile takes alot of work, alot of sweat, risk, time and money. It came from us and it belongs to us.
Getting to the point – after redesigning my sites to look much more appealing to my visitors, apparantly also looks more appealing to webmasters as I have received 42 e mails from them requesting link exchanges in the past 2 weeks. I checked all the sites out and pretty much all are decent looking and does not compete main page to main page. I went through the process and only 12 actually put my link where they said it was. The other 29 did not so I removed them from my sites.
The last one, and I will not mention the name yet as this person is a member of this forum, has not in the last 2 weeks, returned my e mails, has not even acknowledged the fact that I dedicated a button link on my main page leading to his site, and all I asked was to give me the coutesy of putting my link anywhere. I really didn’t care where, as long as it was on his site. There are sites for visitors to see, where not to go to play online casinos, online sportbooks and online poker, and so on. There is now going to be a site(mine) for visitors to see where not to go to sign up for these casinos and so on. These webmasters are get rich quick failures. For every bad webmaster site on this page, there will also be a good one with the only difference being, the site that has been on the up and up with me will be linkable, the fly-by-night, will not be.
These webmasters always seem to fly under the radar to avoid detection. They drew first blood but they only hit a vein, I’ll be hitting an artery.
They’re sinking ships and are growing in numbers and it’s up to the rest of us to distance ourselves from them – This webmaster refuses to get caught up in their wake.
If anyone is with me, let me know and I will put your link on my site.
On the brighter side – I’ve never gone to any conventions yet, but I will be going to Vegas in September and I am looking forward to meeting my fellow business men and women.

InactiveI see he has an apology written on his site. I for one wouldn’t accept it.
Not to make light of the situation but all of the content is pretty well written and spoken until you get to his own personal apology, you can’t understand a word he says.
And this so called novice had enough knowledge to not only block a right click, but when you do right click in dead space, an add to favorites window opens. Like we’re going to add his stolen content to our favorites.

InactiveVoovoo I often stay very reserved but I agree what you are saying 100%. I will let my guard down for a second and ask you something what do you make of this sentence.
greek39,I am before stupid for me to apologize toward you.
From my stand point I could be a honest mistake, poor grammar, not knowing the english language ect…
But it could also be a hacker language, often hackers talk backwards. Such as “I am going not” means I am going. I am not referring to malicious hackers or old school term cracker just you everyday hacker.
I have not yet attended any conferences, no time. I am with you on what you are saying. greek39

InactiveThis fellow ripped the CAP forum by using a program. To do this you have to know what you are doing. To find out more go to the archives. greek39

InactiveHi Greek,
Before I read his posted apology, I thought what he was saying was “You’re stupid if you think I’m going to apologize to you”
I didn’t know these hackers had their own style of piglatin. I just thought they were iliterate or foreign.

Those sites are part of our affiliate network. I would imagine posts you made here at CAP may have appeared there in our “Popular Discussions” affiliate news feeds.

InactiveThe Professor is right what we post hear is part of the affiliate network, there is no harm.
voovoo,
I believe that is an apology after the email I sent him. He will be straight from now on I hope. This is one area I have clout, I don’t like it but it comes from years of hard work.
Knowing some of things certainly helps and I have encouraged to some extent for people to begin to learn. I possed the question once ” what happened in 1965 in regards to the internet? “. Not one person had an answer or they knew but did not post a response.
Yet I find it very ironic, people want to take on scrapers and yet do not bother learning a single thing. Maybe its’ a lack of time or just plain who cares.
But anyway I don’t want to steal away from the Professor thread and I hope this person doesn’t do it again. greek39
