Inactivei never understood the purpose of writing and article for your site, and then copy pasting it in article directories. it just fails to serve a purpose as its uniqueness is lost. you essentially first create a competitive advantage of providing unique information, and then destroy it or cancel it out by syndicating articles…
as far as i’m aware, the trick is to write a couple of versions of the same article, where you would post the original on your website, and the amended versions would be syndicated on article directories…
i believe Aaron Wall on his SEO Book website discusses this issue and even provides links to some programs that generate various articles from the same source. i’m not sure how good are those applications as i havent tried them, but the information written about them and how they work is quite interesting.
hope that helps…

InactiveYep – Aaron Wall and his SEO Book website is useful. WRiting several versions with enough word changes to maintain unique content is the way forward. this way – its less time consuming and you dont affect your website quality/rankings.

InactiveThanks to you guys, I’ve decided to drop my directory listings and submit various different articles than what is on my site.

InactiveCan anyone suggest where I might get a copy of Mr. Wall’s SEO e-book?
Is site is a training site and he is asking $100 a month – that I cannot afford.June 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm #770472
mor2000MemberAt the moment I mostly focus on just writing articles for my own website. I have played around recently with a product called Website Content Wizard which is supposed to be able to rotate text in an article for you but the only way I have got it to work well for me is to use its block text function and create for example 2 or 3 versions of every sentence in the article and then get the programme to jumble it all up. It works good for this and you end up with 15+ readable articles form your original source article. A good way of then testing to see if your articles are unique is by using a product called DupeFree Pro.
I would forget about submitting to link directories, in my experience they are a waste of time.June 19, 2008 at 2:46 pm #770561
frankBPMemberIf your site isn’t fully indexed and spidered often, placing your articles there can be a waste of time as they won’t show up in the SERPs.
When your site’s young, it’s much better to submit your articles to article directories, but ensure that the article is just a ‘teaser’ that will bring traffic to the actual content on your site.
As article directories are authority sites, your article will get indexed much quicker and show higher up in the results, hopefully bringing traffic to your site via the resource box. And if one or other directory gets penalised because of duplicate content, it’s not your concern – so long as the article isn’t duplicated from your site content.
If you type the phrase ‘Can you trust online casinos’ into Google, the top two results are for article directories, but both show my article. The article is (hopefully!) interesting, but sufficiently vague so that visitors reading it come through to my site for further info. I’ve had loads of clicks from that one article and possibly a number of players. But as none of the article content appears on my website, I don’t incur any penalties.
So my advice is to write articles that act like adverts, bringing targetted traffic to your site on the back of the article directories’ good rankings.
Hope that helps.

InactiveOk. It looks like I’ve been doing the article thing incorrectly. Do you suggest that I delet my articles from the article submitters and start over again? If so, are there some article directories that I should submit my articles (not all articles are about gambling, horse racing, herbs, & traffic)?

frankBPMemberIt may be hard to delete the articles. If you can, do so. If not, maybe just amend them so that they’re a bit more unique.
Think of your site content as a commodity. If you give it away to article sites for free, you’re undervaluing it. A well-placed ‘teaser’ article will bring traffic to your site – and that’s the ONLY reason it’s there!
In a nutshell: save the best content for your site and use articles to generate interest in it.
As to which directories, check out which ones appear at the top of the SERPs. In my experience, ezinearticles and articlesbase do well. Use isnare to distribute them, too.
