Better to actually do a link exchange the old fashioned way ?
Avoid link schemes as you are risking being banned from Google. This sort of thing goes against the Google webmaster guidelines.
As Gooner said, stick to the old-fashioned way of linking as Google sees that as more natural.
I tried it a while back and after two months the only links I had were the ones I worked to get, so it doesnt work in my opinion.
It is ineffective.
