I use google analytics and awstats to monitor traffic from incoming links.

Any link trades I do, or generate, I keep in a csv file.

I use link checkers to check competitors websites and see where they are getting links from. The same link checker, doesn’t give me results for all the links I have out there, so its not that reliable.
