InactivePlease clarify if you are talking about bots owned by the poker room, or bots run by players. I am curious if any of the rooms are prepared to answer this.
As a side note, I haven’t found a good poker player that wouldn’t play a bot over a human any day.

InactiveBots are on all pokersites. To prevent bots the poker rooms must alter their design/software constantly to prevent the bot owners from screen scraping the tables/hands

I agree. to my knowledge bots are not good enough yet to be a real threat to an experienced poker player.

Most likly.
I downloaded ‘win holdem’ once(a poker bot program), to check it out. This was a year or 2 ago, I don’t know how the program has evolved. I used it at partypoker and paradise. I used it for a few hands on each site. It is a tweekable program, and I spent very little time adjusting it. I lost money using it, in the few hands I played. It worked, it read the screen and ‘pushed’ the buttons for actions.
Partypoker didnt do anything about it, I would assume they didn’t know or didn’t care.
Paradise locked up my account and I had to expain myself and remove the program from my computer before they would unlock it, they said I would be permanetly banned if I used it again. But the software providers at win-holdem say this is easy to work around using 2 computers, I never tried.

InactiveI can categorically say that Betfredpoker.com do not employ or use any bot’s for any purpose. These top the scale along with spyware and spammers as far as i am concerned.
But then again, we are an honest poker room.

InactiveI was playing poker with a bot and was up couple hundreds when I realize that the bot was making the same move I was making, lol. At first, I thought this other player must have been drunk or something because I’m a type of player that likes to bluff, so I kept on bluffing and the bot kept on calling. :hmmm: This really got me mad. but In the end, I won. It was fun while the bot lost all it’s money.
(still, this is not legit because you never know what cards that the bot has)

InactiveI’ll play a bot all day long.
If the poker room is running the bot, then there are big potential problems. The bot could be playing with fake money, or the bot knows the cards, for instance.
If someone programs their bot to do X or Y in certain situations, I’m not bothered by that at all. Come on bots… let’s get a room going!

Yep, me too!

Bots can play together in collusion if they have the same owner…This is where the trouble is. If 4 bots are playing together on the same table, and know each others cards, and are well programed, they would be tough to beat.

InactiveThat is true, but no different than if four real players who are playing at the same table and disclosing what they have to each other. Once again, I’ll take the 4 humans playing together over the 4 bots. I think it is better to find out if the sites are making sure that players don’t collude.
