epeMemberEveryone in the affiliate business wants to know how many unique visitors, total visitors, page views, geographical location among many other important stats. But where is everyone getting their numbers from? One program will show you 1,000 unique visitors and another will show 200. Any advice from the experts?

InactiveWe used StuffedTracker (from http://www.stuffedtracker.com ) . I just think it’s about as good as it gets without paying $1000s for something or giving all your data to Google for free.

AFFManagerMemberYou mean server side? Someone producing report from webserver log files or web analytics is fine?
For web stats I used just google analytics. A good free tool. The downside of Google Analytics is that:
1- You need a JS enbled browser to work
2- You don’t own the data. You can’t take it with you.I think the best analytics out there is http://www.omniture.com/en/ but they are unfordable as they target big companies.

CamMemberForget all server side programs – they are not accurate and you can’t do any deeper analysis on your visitors.
Google Analytics is excellent but forget it if you don’t want big G to have your data.
I would highly recommend Clicky (aff link). It’s pretty easy to use, but has some rather advanced features. For example I’ve set it up to track clicks on casinos, so I know what keywords bring relevant traffic.
You can also track campaigns (banner, PPC…) if you have any, registrations to your forum etc.
Another example: if you have forum, you can name your visitors automatically, so you know exactly what each registered visitor is doing in real time (this is illegal in some countries though).
One cool and unique feature in Clicky is tracking outbound links even if they are redirected with 301.
Web analytics is MUST HAVE if you want to make money with your website.

Clicky looks really good. I’m going to have a play with that.

ExpertistMemberthe problem with statcounter (the free version) is if you have more than one site you have to limit your stats…

InactiveGoogle Analytics is by far the best package you can get for free, and probably better than any you can pay for either. Who cares if they have access to your data, they have that anyway from the Google toolbar.
