InactiveYes, I read the book first, and then saw the movie. All of the books from that particular author are worth reading, but that’s the only movie based on his books that I’ve seen. Tuesdays With Morrie was my favorite of the books.

Mitch Albom wrote the books. He’s a sports writer, or used to be, before he started writing these “feel-good” books. I have a Literature degree, and I own my own bookstore, so I’m fairly well-read compared to some folks. Although I have a lot of friends who are Literature professors who make me look like a 1st grader.

I haven’t read/seen it myself, but will be trying to get hold of it. I haven’t read a book for a long time, and i think this might just make me get out of my hiatusJanuary 19, 2009 at 5:49 am #792906

InactiveHey Mitchell!
Lets make a deal, who ever reads it first has to tell the other one what is about and how good it is or isn’t!

BlackbuddyMemberWhat’s that? The five people i’d meet in heaven? Sure!
— Any of the all-time great ball players who died long before i was born: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Christy Mathewson … well, maybe none of the racist guys like Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb, or Cap Anson. (Could a racist get into heaven?) Or maybe Thurman Munson, who was my favorite ballplayer cut down just past his prime while crash landing his own plane.
— My great-grandfather, who i knew until he was 90 and i was eight. Except he’d be younger, so probably also
— My great-grandmother, who lived just as long and was always by great-grandfather’s side.
— Marilyn Monroe, if only so i could give her a hug, say “sorry” and “thank you.”
— That person that ultimately means the most to me When It All Goes Down.
Cheers,
Os.
