billions more will flow into their hands.
:bored:
Not only the whales . . they have THOUSANDS of names in their databases!Everyone who has ever been a guest at the hotel ..
whether they were a player or not . . :popcorn:Everyone who ever signed up for the slot players club . .
Everyone who ever filled out a coupon (as they were passing through)
for any sort of casino “freebie” or giveaway . . :popcorn:Everyone who ever played at any table game . .
If there is someone they don’t recognize, one of the floormen just happens to wander over and ask where they are from and have them fill out a card so he can buy them lunch . . :wink-wink . . as if they really care about buying your lunch!!
I will never forget a family with 2 children who had car trouble and were stranded in Las Vegas and were broke. Someone was wiring money for them to get the car fixed and get back home. In the meantime, they asked if the casino could give the children something to eat . . security politely escorted them out (since they obviously had no money to spend in the casino)
I have at least a hundred more stories like this one!!

Of course now you see the big picture. We are a joke to them.
What may be even funnier is that we HAD the market and now we may be
out.

Plus the fact the casinos advertise worldwide. I don’t think there’s a person on the planet who has not heard of Las Vegas or doesn’t know the names of several of the casinos here.
So .. do they need affiliates ? .. probably not, but they’ll always welcome the opportunity to reel in some new players.
They pay the bus drivers $50 to $100 to bring their busload of players to the casino for an hour or two.
I imagine if they do have affiliate programs .. they’ll be willing to pay us about the same thing .. $50 to $100 for a bus load of players

The casinos certainly do not advertise worldwide – in fact, I am reasonably certain that 99% of the world’s population outside North America would not be able to name any casino in Vegas except for Caesar’s Palace (though Wynn and Sands can now make a case for being recognized outside the US).
In my opinion, the land-based casinos actually stand to lose from the new legislation. I’d need to go back and find the figures but I am sure that land-based casinos actually made MORE money over the last few years – especially with the online poker boom re-energizing the nearly dead poker scene in Vegas.

That 99% figure is way off in my opinion.

That 99% figure is way off in my opinion.Las Vegas casinos do have a lot of foreigners playing, especially from Asia. However, these players still represent a very, very small percentage of the population.
Wynn and Sands have built casinos in Macau. The Venetian is also being built in Macau. Plus, the Sands is building in Singapore.
That being said, in countries with large populations like Indonesia and India, for instance, they have absolutely zero exposure to US brand names as far as casinos are concerned. Even in Thailand, with 60 milllion people, I can absolutely guarantee that 99.9 percent of the population could not name a single casino in Vegas, including Caesar’s Palace.
The most likely name in Asia that would be offered up as the name of any casino outside Asia, believe it or not, would be Ladbrokes – and they don’t operate land-based casinos.

I believe you are correct … I believe Vegas has shattered
attendance records in the last few years and its one
of the fastest growing cities in America.

InactiveI tend to agree with Spearmaster. If you asked people on the streets of
Manila, Philippines.. I’m sure that 99% of them wouldn’t know the name
of the casinos in Las Vegas. Also, I’m sure if you asked them to name
a casino within their country, 99% of them would know Casino Filipino. With that said, I think more than 1% of the global population could name
a casino in Las Vegas, but it’s not as high as some of you seem to think.October 5, 2006 at 6:12 pm #710097Anonymous

Professor – 4.4 million does not make anywhere NEAR 1% of the rest of the world’s population.
Furthermore, that 12% includes Canadians…October 5, 2006 at 6:14 pm #710099

1) I worked in the casino industry for several years.
2) My ex-husband is a casino executive at one of the casinos.
3) I have done a lot of traveling and there are GIANT 6 foot tall posters advertising Las Vegas in most major cities throughout the world.
In the European countries everyone is VERY aware of Las Vegas. They always have all kinds of questions about various casinos (which they know by name).
Travel agencies over there are FILLED with travel books and brochures regarding vacationing in Las Vegas. It is a very popular vacation destination for people from all over the world.
