I have reluctantly accepted that 99% of affiliate programs are either too lazy, affraid, or greedy to send out a single email too let players know what’s going on, but can send out 18 million emails asking us to keep sending traffic.
    Expected. :withstupi

I’m beginning to wonder if I even want to stick it out in this industry, but then, I’ll bet when it comes down to the money all affiliate programs are the same.

My site is only 6 months old and to date, only one depositing player. Why should I even continue to market to only receive an email down the road from more casino groups pulling out? Funny, but the only notifications from casinos I seem to be getting are the ones that I am a registered player in. I am set up as an affiliate with 10-12 casino groups and to date only two have notified me.

The law was meant to put a scare into everyone which is exactly what it did. It is still extremely vague and I believe this was done deliberatly – it can be intepreted and twisted in many different ways which is exactly what will be done should anyone be dragged to court. They will find a way to make it fit the crime.

This is our government for you. Run by a seperate entity making decisions behind their people’s backs in order to fill their pockets.

I’m sick of hearing our government lecture on how gambling is bad for us and how they twist this to make it look like they are looking out for our best interests. Only stupid people would believe that. If it’s bad, then do away with the lottery, horse racing and all the other gambling that has been legalized. You watch – down the road someday, Harrahs and other Vegas casinos will have the online gambling market with a cut going to the government of course. Then it will be ok again.

The casinos are not much different. They don’t care about us unless we can fill their pockets. We can’t do that for them anymore, so they move on looking for other ways to do it.

Its always just about the money…

You´re absolutely right, integrity. I´ve rarely seen an industry that´s as short termist as the online gambling industry. It´s probably owed to their fly by night origins which they couldn´t shake off. “You can take the boxer out of the Ghetto but you can´t take the Ghetto out of the boxer.”

Same holds true for some of the former scam operators gone legit.

I have also accepted the fact that some poker programs spending millions in advertising pissed away valuable air time that could have been used to educate players.

This is the one that gets me.

The only excuse I can come up with is that they were prepaid and scheduled ads and could not be changed.

One would think though that someone would have used that airtime productively.

For the past 6 months to a year, it’s been illegal to gamble online in South Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Wisconsin, Washington State, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Illinois, New York and New Jersey.

It’s been illegal alot longer than that in most of those states.

Think Frist is underhanded how’s this:

You know how some (land) slot games accumulate bonus credits as players play? (Barracuda is one such game.) Well a few years ago a land casino was zeroing out these bonus credits at end of business each night. I put up a little site warning patrons, their lawyer had it shut down within a hour of finding out about it and sent me a nice little letter saying zeroing out credits at the end of the business day was a “lottery commision decision”. They did stop the practice shortly after that.

The lack of communication from affiliate managers really bugs me. Everything else I can take, but to have players contacting me saying “I can’t play at XXXX site anymore” and me not knowing about it beforehand really bugs me. Why is it that some affiliate managers always have plenty of time to try and convince you to promote them more strongly, but can’t send out a simple e-mail?

Oh well. The affiliate managers who have contact me will see their sites getting a lot better promotions, and next time an AM asks me why their site isn’t being promoted as strongly, I’ll be sure to remind them exactly why :)

Kudos to the ones that have given updates, even if not over e-mail, at least on the forums. For all the heat that WagerShare got in this thread, at least they actually came out and told people about it(and in a public forum too). Thanks to all affiliate managers who DO keep us updated, even if it’s not always good news :p
