InactiveWhy not both? There are heaps of people at college that are doing both – That way if suddenly you do start raking in the big bucks you can leave and dedicate your time to the sites and on the otherhand if it doesn’t work out you will have college to full back on

InactiveTo be honest its only you that can answer this.
I went to Uni after a year out working but quickly realised that I wasnt doing the right thing. If you are currently making money and you think you have what it takes to go full time then awesome, weigh up the Uni v’s Affy Marketing and make an informed decision.
Also consider if you can do what you are doing now on the side while at Uni. If you can then to me, I would chose to go and get myself a degree, reason being I dont think I would be where I am now without one, different side of the fence maybe but you never know where you will be in 5 years time and its harder to join a uni course when everyone is 3 to 4 years younger than you.
For me, uni helped me in this job but from the affiliate point of view it may give you some insights (depending on the course) but the best way to learn is to experience in my opinion. You must also consider what you want to do and does the course help you with this? Sounds like you should be doing something like computer science or similar?

Proffessor Beacon PHD in Beer
P.S. Yeh its true, I actually have letters after my name!! :hattip:

PngigdgaMemberDo both – there are *lots* of affiliates who are at Uni.
How intensive is the course? I am sure that you will find plenty of time to build sites and work on your affiliate stuff – and you might even discover new niches through your learning.
Your studying will be something to fall back on – even if you dont go into the Finance industry and work in a smelly office, it will show you have the capacity to learn, which will be a major help in whatever you want to go into.

vladcizsolMemberDefinitely do both…

InactiveSame here, doing both.. but remember to make enough free time to spend on your study.. I’m having the hardest time to focus on studybooks, while I could also update a site or two.. lol..
It’s hard, but if you manage you should really go for both.. When making a million a year, you can always stop study.. But when affiliate market crashes (for some reason) you’ll always have a good education as back-up..

InactiveNothing but good can come from an education.
Do both!

poluroud20MemberI would do both – students have plenty time off too so you can do your sites while your mates are getting drunk and wasting their money!
Wait, I sound like my Dad! :roflmao:
I studied International Business & Economics and to be honest it give me a good base but I haven’t really applied nothing in particular apart from IT skills ( I could talk about sweatshops in Vietnam for an hour though!).
I would do both – you never know what will happen in the future – shutting doors is not something you should do.
Do both and see how it goes – then you will have a better understanding of what you really want to do/achieve.
Good luck :hattip:

Inactiveits got to be your choice but an education can stand you in good stead in so many ways – and it helps you change jobs etc if you want to because it shows discipline and a certain level of intelligence. you could do affiliate sites also – would help put you through colege for sure – but i wouldnt really ever suggest someone should give up the chance for an education. whatever you choose – choose wisely and make sure you’re certain.

InactiveI agree with the posts above — do both.
If you absolutely must pick one over the other, then I would pick college. You’ll have a great time, you’ll make lifelong friends, and you might learn a few things in class, too.
I think of my college days often. The workload for me was enormous — 12-15 hours a day in class or in the lab, 6-7 days week (for a chemical engineering degree). But if I could go back in time, I’d do it all over again.

InactiveDo Both but maybe change your major to something that has to do with programming or web design , this knowledge will help you out greaty as you build more and more sites .
Also while your in school you can leave pens and other small stuff around with your sites address . or maybe even have some cd’s made up with your aff link coded into it and leave them around the rec rooms at school.

picturbikpiMemberFor me, college was not about becoming financially wealther. It was about taking a step towards being an adult. It is the phase in your life between adolescence and being an adult. I’d say enjoy it…money isn’t everything.

EvelinessaMemberI agree with the Professor, do both. I have been doing both for a number of years, and recently just graduated from a University here in Southern California.
I’d say that college is about learning how to learn, it’s not about getting a degree and earning big money right out of college. You need to obtain the education to make educated decisions in life.

InactiveI agree with the guys before me.
Do both
As I remember back to my college years, they were so good, as you are treated as an adult, but you are so free like a child. I would go back any time
I have an Msc as an Economist specialized in finance, I wouldn’t say that everything I was taught at the uni I can use in the everyday life, but getting loads of friends (contacts – networking – more opportunities – does it ring a bell? ;p) and getting a new viewpoint about how things works in the world (as JohnCAP and ArjunCAP said) makes your adventures on other fields of life much easier.
And who knows, you could get an opportunity related to gambling industry which requires a degree (affiliate manager, program representative, etc – happened to me) and you will have an awesome competitive edge over others who doesn’t know anything about this industry.

GuestI’d be a hypocrite to not tell you follow your dream. but if you can do that and have some security along the way … that gives you a net which will enable you to take bigger chances which almost always lead to bigger rewards … when they work out.
do both.
June 28, 2008 at 5:09 pm #771412
PerThornMemberThe general consensus seems to say – do both.
Well, after some serious comtemplation, i think thats what i will do. Who knows, this industry is so voliate it may not even be around in a few years time… Where as, my degree.. the invaluable life experience gained would be priceless.
Thanks for the sincere advise guys! Certainly helped
