Hmm, interesting. I didn’t see the link on the site. I do know that many brands will use tracking links that aren’t affiliate links but rather keyword tagged urls that allow them to track exits from their own site.

I guess if the BBC does have an affiliate account though, they would be bringing in bank.

To be honest one of my bingo sites is linked on two news articles at the bbc, didn’t see a lot of traffic through them when the stories were fresh, I doubt they have an affiliate relationship, but I’d say that possibly the person who put the link in the article might have copied the url from an affiliate site and not known it was an affiliate link. I’ve worked in BBC online, and know what sort of mistakes and shortcuts those guys do.

I doubt it was deliberate, however, I wish it was my id they picked up by mistake!
