InactiveYOU will know better than most …
It’s difficult to compare clickthrough percentages unless you’re looking at very similar affiliate sites and traffic demographics …
So you are the best person to ask :
– IS THIS NORMAL FOR YOUR SITE ?
– ARE THEY BEING PRESENTED IN THE SAME WAY AS OTHER PLACES ?
– IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE OF FAULTY RECORDING ?September 19, 2006 at 2:35 am #706471Anonymous
Inactivemy problem is that this is my firsy foray into this type of advertising

InactiveYou should benchmark against some other affiliate program.
Personally I send 2000 hits somewhere before deciding what they’re like.

InactiveI promote sportsbooks. I had nine.com on several of my pages since February 2006 until a few weeks ago when I removed them. They were my worst program. I had over 1400 clicks with 0 sign ups. Why would I want to give them what I feel is valuable real estate on my site?:grunt:

That is sound advice. Different programs perform differently on different sites.
When choosing a program, first check the reputation among players and affiliates, then check the T&Cs. See if those items meet your criteria.
After that you need to go with what works on your site, give prominent positions to those programs that perform for you.
You do need a decent sample of both hits and downloads as well as some reasonable time span of exposure to judge performance.

InactiveYou need to put a new banner in the same spot and see how it performs. You don’t have to dump 9, just move them to a different spot. You won’t find who performs best for you unless you test market.

InactiveI recently dropped Nine.com as I faced the same performance issues. ie. there was no performance over two years which was a anomoly given I run campaigns successfully for a bunch of bookmakers. The site had a comparable exposure to similar sites but on the other sites the return was healthy.
I am sure the guys there will tell you that some affiliates made $xxx, xxx per month, and that might well be the case, but my gut feel is that the mean earnings at nine.com would be far lower than other comparable sites.
Is this indicative of the fact that sports betting punters dont really care for scantily clad babes when all they want to do is get a good value bet?
I know that when I go to affiliate conventions and see affiliate managers fawning over their booth babes I dont take them seriously.
