Hi. I’ve been in busness since 1976 and I also owned several apartments – MY ADVISE IS DON”T PUT ANY RELATIVE ON YOUR PAYROLL!!!!

I hear what you guys are saying loud and clear and normally I use the same discretion with the other business I have owned. However, my parents are always struggling financially and I am always handing out money to them anyways, so by putting her on payroll now she doesn’t feel like she is leaching off me and I am getting work and content in return which I need anyway, so the decision to put her to work is not going to change. But your both right, its just an unusual circumstance.

Me personally I would never mix family and business! Other people may like it, you can trust your mother but when things get hard and she is not making deadlines how do you push her without it causing problems?

Let me tell you from experience this will never work. I have had two businesses with family and both didnt work very well. To many opinions , you need only one top dog in the house you the boss. In the beginning its all fine and dandy but it is doomed to fail from the beginning. You are better off paying someone that you dont know. It will be easier when things dont work out or they cant write the way you want or you need to make changes. There are so many reasons not to mix business with family. Just my opinion.

As to the source of new info and stories , its all been written about before. Just write about it better.

I guess I’m in the minority when I suggest that hiring your mom is a great idea! It’s hard to find people that you can trust to work for you and if you can’t trust your family then who can you trust?

My mom has been working for me for over two year and it’s all been good.

She is responsible for data entry of my affiliate stats, generating reports as well as all of my bookkeeping so that tax season is not a hassle. I give her a flat fee and she works at her own pace.

She does this all from another state. I use gotomypc to assist her and upload the data to my server.

Yea, its not like I am making her president of a big corporation or something. I am going to pay her $10 an article and have her write about 15 a week. She has a good writing style and she should perform fine for me. But as a general rule of thumb, I appreciate how most advise not to hire family for business, the potential to run into problems and have bad blood is always there. However, since the decision to hire her has already been made and is not going to change, if anyone can help me out with my original question about the best way to find articles to write I would appreciate it. I should have given this post a different title and not mentioned family in the equation lol.

    Hi BG,

the truth of the matter is that gambling has been going on for a very long time. To think that there is something new to write about on a level of continued fashion is probably dreaming.

find an article. re-write in your / her own words. and its yours. How many ways can you tell someone to hit a hand of 10 or less in blackjack and call it original thinking?

to my understanding …. it all about not being word for word. All writers learned somewhere and most did it by reading.

I have been doing it so long I don’t have to seek out other articles but I learned from reading .. and then of course experience. I cannot fathom anyone doing it differently. Some may have learned without reading about it first but that merely means they made every mistake they could have avoided by doing the research / reading first.

so I guess I’m a plagurist. but not one anybody can legally charge me with being.

News – try to get the source. Rewrite the article, and still always credit the source.

If you find articles that don’t credit the source, paste a key phrase into google and you’ll likely find it. Try to use newspaper articles and press releases as source.

Way to go for giving your mom something back :)
I also usually feel uneasy about working with relatives, but the people who gave birth to you are probably the most loyal ones you’ll ever find.

Now as for gambling news –

Register to some websites that publish gambling press releases, and have your mom rewrite the PRs.

The largest one I know is prweb.com, where we publish our own PRs. You can find casino, poker and sports news. Registration is free, and you can get your relevant PRs to your email. I think you just need to give them a credit.

An additional way to gather news is to register to casinos mailing lists to get their newsletters with all the promotions. Usually you need to open an account to join the list, but in 3 days your mom can be listed on hundreds of sites, making sure you deliver your visitors all the latest bonus news.

    Happy Mother’s Day!

Have your mom subscribe to a bunch of related rss feeds. She will have news coming to her desktop every day.
